    Just to follow up:
We at at MILCH in Frueauf Village both nights. Good service and great food.
I particularly loved the pulled pork tacos. Very yummy!
And our adult kids were very happy and impressed with the chicken and steak burgers. (enormous burger with a large pile of fries as well).

Currawong is the only one to have commented on Astra - and the feedback wasn't great.

I've been hearing better things elsewhere. Has anyone else been there this year?

Heading up next week and will have a big group including kids.

I think astra may have had a kids menu, but the 2 teenagers in our group took one look at the menu and asked if they could get a pizza elsewhere instead - they did.

i ate at Elk on Friday night. My friend and I both ordered a porterhouse - hers well done, mine the medium rare. They mixed them up.

The fries I ordered were probably the highlight of the meal. Really delicious.

I'd probably give the place 3.5 stars out of 5.

    nowhere in particular...
Recently up at Falls Creek (6th to 9th August) and we had dinner at "Bazaar" which was part of the OT resort.

We were quite surprised at the price for what essentially is a buffet dinner. Whilst not cheap, for $55 per head (drinks extra), we got steamed pork buns, two different types of steam dim sims (classic siu mai and coconut scallop dumpling), mushroom noodle soup, pumpkin soup, cheese platter with condiments, cold cuts, beef & vege stir fry, steak cooked to order, pork belly (as much as you want), short ribs, sides (mushrooms, mash, potato skins, carrots, broccoli, prawn crackers), chorizo & chicken paella and a seafood bar with prawns, spanner crabs, mussels (no oysters), then dessert bar with 8 to 10 different types of desserts). And the food is of decent quality!

I don't know about anyone else, but that seems pretty good value for money to me, since they don't seem to stop you from asking for a second piece of steak etc.

To top it off, because Lucy and I went for a massage at OT spa just before dinner, we were given a 20% discount for dinner at Bazaar.

We also tried one morning the breakfast there - same kind of deal, a buffet hot breakfast (plus all the usual continental and filtered coffee/tea - barista made coffees are charged extra) - for $25 per head. Pretty reasonable and quality of the food is good.
