    Hey guys,
Just landed an on snow interview for this up and coming season.
I got a bit excited when i saw 69 dollar flights to Canberra.
For the life of me i cant find any way to get to thredbo on this date. (Besides hiring a car)
Canberra to Thredbo on the 12th of june 2013 just seems impossible with out a car.

anyone know any good ride share websites or other means of travel?

    thanks in advance

Busses will be running from Canberra to Thredbo by then.

Someone else will remember which company.

Lifes an adventure [IMG] go the airfare, catch a bus to Cooma, hitch a ride the rest of the way. The Alpine region folk are some of the most hospitable in the country!

Just don't ride with any of the Milat family [IMG]

There is a bus, some little company like Snowy Mtns Coaches or something. Runs once a day I think out of season. I caught it once when we had to leave a buggered car in Jindy one Autumn. Use your powers of google, you will find it, or ring the visitors centre in Jindy, I think we found out there.

Search the forums for previous threads about this.

canberra to Cooma can be done with Country link

Cooma to Thredbo or Jindabyne can be done with the school buses - cooma coaches.

However the times may not really work for you.

There was a facebook group with people offering lifts.

or rent a car for the day.

$80 for a car (or less)
    $30 for fuel
    $20 for some snow chains

should cover the day's adventure and gives you a lot more flexibility in your day, even create some extra time for a slide while you are there

I concur with this - will save so much time and pain. However I think $30 for petrol is a little optimistic for 2x 2.5 hour trip, plus there is another $27 for the park fee.

true, but if you catch a bus you will still have to pay a park fee.

the $80 for the car was a cheap and cheerful buzzbox, but I have no idea on its fuel consumption.

Car hire could be a problem if you are under 21.
Probably the best way would be countrylink and get off at Cooma then schoolbus to Jindabyne and Thredbo,Try giving snowlink shuttle a call, they are based in Jindy and go up to Thredbo and also stop at the ski-tube and do a am and pm run.
Maybe come down the day before and get some cheap accom in Jindy for the night.

Wow thanks for the help guys,
I cant really hire a car unless i can leave it in thredbo.
I am really hoping its a one way trip.
catching the school buses will take a whole day i have found out via a different thread.
normally i would try and hike it but i will have 3 LARGE bags (my life). people may not have the room or the bother. but i will be trying very hard to do that between the buses.

    also trying the facebook page.

    thanks for your help

If the job you are going for does not work out, just start knocking on doors, even take a heap of copies of your resume with your photo and a phone number on it.

    Canberra - Cooma
    - Country link coach (leaving Mon, Wed, Fri from Canberra Kingston Train station around 11.30)

    Cooma - Jindabyne
    - Cooma Coach School bus ($18.30 - leaving 14.15 Centenial Park)

    Jindabyne - Thredbo
    - Snowlink School bus ($20 - connects with Cooma coach at Jindabyne public school - last stop - at 15.30)

You can do all the hops in one day if you choose the right day: Mon, Wed, Fri where Country link coach arrives in time for Cooma bus. Otherwise, two days needed.

Leaving Canberra like 11.30 and arrive in Thredbo 16.30 or about 5 hours. It's not that bad, you know. You just sit back, relax and listen to the funny stuff the little kids are talking about and wondering whether you would have been like that when you were at their age... and you will soon arrive the next stop in no time, really.

Jindabyne to and from. It's a Facebook page that can help you sort out a ride. Good luck

    Hi,

So by now you probably have received the email from Thredbo saying that they are going to pick people up in Cooma and drive to Thredbo free of charge. If not check you email because you need to reserve a seat.
You need to get the :
Coach Service CLK773 departing Canberra Station (Kingston) 12.15pm, arriving in Cooma at 13:30pm.

I did the same thing in booking a cheap flight to Canberra. Hope this helps. Probably see you in June. haha

Canberra Station (Kingston) is most likely to be the train station. It is not within walking distance of airport.
