Hi all, I was just curious as to where the chairs and t-bars are stored between seasons after they are removed from there respective lifts.

    Yeah they certainly look weird!

Here's my question: Are the cross country trails open for mountain biking through summer? If yes, where do they take you? Is it worth a one or two night stay?

I am pretty sure you can ride your bike along the trails in summer.

They mostly do big loops, so you end up back at the resort, there is also the Dinner Plain to Hotham trail. Ride up to Hotham, lunch at the Genny and then ride back, great day out.

If you jump on the Hotham website and look at the cross country trail maps, I am sure you'll find more information.

yeh you can ride on the XC trails.

Hotham to dinner plain trail is gravel track alot of the way, other trails are just grassy and quite soft when I did them.

There is supposed to be some single track trails around Dinner Plain as well, the guys at the bike shop would know more about these.

Oh yeah, there is a wooden construction near the Scrubbers End carpark which is part of a trail. My boys were jibbing it on their boards the other day.

Cool, thanks. It will probably be better than the last time I took the bike up to Baw Baw in August - little did I know I would be riding on packed snow! Hopefully I won't have the same trouble when and if I go to Hotham this summer.

I believe it's jibbing or yibbing. It might be a soft j. I'm not sure but apparently you just slide or bonk stuff for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

Yes you can mountain ride the XC trails @ hotham to DP and vice versa. There are some nice trails in DP as well. The guys at the bike shop @ DP can guide you to some great areas to ride. It's worth doing in summer and great fun.

Hi I would suggest you contact Rich or Rose at 'adventures with altitude' they run the bike shop during summer from Dinner Plain and can point you to some more challenging rides if you wish. They are in the process of opening a trails centre at Casalis' - which is about 15k down the road to Omeo, it has single track, and comp standard downhill too. Having ridden the trail from DP to the General many times I would suggest do it early summer, by late summer the lomg grass makes it pretty hard going, check out the 'room with a view' loop from dp too, only 4k but a mixture of green , blue and even some black xc trail

Oh yeh-watch out for the snakes riding through the high grass. I had a very close encounter....one I won't forget. Just watch out for them! They are around @ hotham and @ Dinner Plain in summer.

Anyone know of any construction planned over the summer months? I heard the General Store were planning on doing some work. Any chance of some more snow making?

Didn't get any details but there is definitely more work going on at the back of The General. I was there yesterday and there is a large excavation out the back... ???

They did all the ground work last summer and if I was told right, there are units already pre-fabed and ready to lift into place this summer. Apartments, three I think.
