    Hey all,

Wanted to share some pics of the new 2020 Bishop BMF-R step-in tele binding and Chedi tele ski that just arrived on my doorstep!

Stoked to have one of the first pairs in Aus and excited to put them through their paces in Japan soon. I’ve been asked to spread the good word on how good this kit is, and can offer a discount code to anyone who wants to save a bit of coin and get on this gear!

What's the sticker price going to be on the metal?

All manufactured in-house which is pretty cool. Not cheap, but then they’re not selling huge quantities. Few price options depending if you want it for touring or just resort skiing etc

I like the look of the ski, but fail to see the point of the binding. Be interested to hear your view. I had some Bombers, and loved them, but love my Freeride much more.

Interesting. I have always loved the Bomber binding for its strength, rigidity and performance, but it had two annoying characteristics, which the BMF-R solves.

    1. I found the original bombers difficult to engage the heel piece, contorting my body to lift the heel mechanism up and lock it shut. This was made worse when you had a heavy pack on or unstable snow, etc

    2. The performance orientated pivot point and spring made touring bloody hard as you were working against the springs. That was accepted as it was never designed as a lightweight tele binding for touring, it was a resort binding. But everyone wants their cake and to eat it too.

The redesign has seen a true step in heel piece which to me is what I always wanted. The engagement to lock yourself in is far easier.

The second with the ‘R’ model is the ability to flip the binding into tour mode so you have effortless pivot to skin without working again the heavy performance spring and pivot point. If you’re not bothered with skinning etc then there is a cheaper model without that functionality. It’s the same functionality as the new pin/alpine switch bindings, allowing a free tour mode without any resistance but then full performance when descending.

And funnily enough it’s just a replacement toe piece. When my tele boots cark it, I’ll probably get NTN boots and replace the toe on the binding.

But it’s not ntn, it’s something different again but by supporting 75 boots they contribute to the delay in boot development.

That said i do admire the engineering & production of the binding.
