Probably because it was the Perisher stoke thread and people have little patience for off-topic stuff in there at the moment given everything *gestures at world*.

By nasty, I specifically meant you singling out chicksi as being “particularly annoying”. Not cool IMO.

I thought her comment that my post belongs in the bin was kinda rude. She may not have specifically called me out, but she did indirectly slam me when there was no need. But whatever, I have nothing against her at all and apologise if I offended her. I won't single her or anyone out again.

It takes time to get known and get to know people on here. I should have included banter in my earlier list.

And I love you too. My comment was a response. And I’m fed up with vast generalisations that are BS.

I will call out anybody that makes such generalisations online or in person.

Like I said, I'm not yet sick of these "vs" discussions, so I thought it was just a bit of fun.

Looking back, I do feel bad about singling you out. I'm genuinely sorry. I got unreasonably annoyed at your 'bin' comment, since it felt almost like a personal attack at the time. Unfortunately I tend to get a bit precious sometimes.

The snow is so thin at Thredbo that they have parked up all the snow groomers and issued all mountain staff with snow boards to undertake grooming during the day.

Little known fact - snowboarders invented mogul skiing. Before snowboards there were no bumps!

Thanks to the few we now welcome you to ................................. PSR 2.0.
I hope the same happens when certain people start comparing coffee shops ,food shops etc.
Then next year we get that great old chestnut that dominates page after page ,year after year ( but seems to be allowed because certain people like it ) ....................... I give you Interschools.

Normally I just do the adult thing and scroll past things that are uninteresting to me such as the topics above but it would seem we are now inundated with Karens that cant do that for themselves and that is a sad thing.

Yep ,looks like we are fast becoming PSR 2.0 ,cheers to those that are creating it.

That's only partially true. Skiers only started making bumps when snowboarders turned up. It was a deliberate scheme to annoy boarders.

In that long ago time before snowboards bumps happily gathered in orderly groups entwined and connected by troughs of snow.

These days the bumps are lonely disconnected piles of scrapings separated by wide flat lands of misery and despair

Peak bump skiing was Edgar Grospiron and Jean-Luc Brassard...
It's all been a decline since then.

I ponder was it the bumps that died first or the fashions?

It is amusing though that bump skiing was the original "rebel sport" prior to snow boarding.

Here is my opinion for whatever it’s worth.
What you have just said is EXACTLY why there is so much anti snowboarder angst from skiers.

    I am a snowboarder.
99% of the time I can predict a skiers line, and see if they’re sketchy or not.
99% of the time I can predict a snowboarders line, and see if they’re sketchy or not.

I’ve spent a lot of time riding in mixed company, and there were a lot of chats between the ski group and snowboard group when we were all out doing our instructor training and the general consensus is a lot of skiers do not have any idea of how a snowboarder moves, what natural line they may take, nor predict from past turns where the next turn will be made. That blindness to skiers lines isn’t as common amongst boarders.

Skiers who can see it don’t usually have any issues sharing space with snowboarders. They will place the blame for an accident on douchey or unskilled actions rather than whether they have one plank or two.

Sounds more like Thredbo super trail when it is thin and icy. Good time for straight skis instead of carvers.

Snowboards have built in mobility issues, they don't like the flats or the tights so must carry speed or sideslip.

Another issue is they seem to be attracted to the berms that form on the edge of runs so when one stops safely on the side of the run you are actually stopping in the prime snowboard track.

Nah that's the best spot, but pass just after they rock back onto to toe edge. Extra points for sneaking up. Actually my favourite is to take the line that's right on the drop-off, most others don't want it :)

In that instance it was on top of the bump. It was the only place you could turn. Forget carving. It was stand balanced heading for the next bump, unweight and turn to head for another bump.

The Japanese think I am kidding when I say I can ski ice but not powder.

It is fascinating how many subgroups exist across the hill.
I'm across a few. The vm people like Normo and rocket...
    The purists like SMS.
The WS kids in freestyle programs for snowboarding.
The BC crew... Both split and ski.

People who spend a Shit load of time on the hill. None of them throw shade at the snowboarding vs ski thing.

That premise is exclusive to crew who don't really ride that much.

    Naaahhh, there's no problem there.

I liken skiers to road cyclists (elitist, purist, lots of expensive gear) and boarders to mountain bikers (just out to have fun and jump stuff).

And I can say that, since I resemble 3 of the above ;)

    LOL
Yep. The amount of times I’ve held a tight line along the edge of the piste or gone bush to avoid people with unpredictable turns. The hardest thing about my exams was having to ride drills in the middle of a busy beginner run. It’s like sitting in the middle of the freeway with your LEGO kit!
