Our taxi driver from car park to village on Friday night said even the taxis (which are like hi ace vans) are $100k + once modified a bit.

Having looked at the PistenBully website and seeing used ones (non winch) are €150,000 I'm now thinking more like 3-4 hundred grand...

Never would of believed the taxis cost that much!

The 'new' Toyota AWD taxis are custom order from Japan and then fitted out, a driver was telling me when they started operating. I don't think you can even get the AWD version in Oz.

$100k doesn't really buy much these days!

Are you sure it was destined for Buller? We saw the truck on Sunday morning at Wilsons Valley heading back down from Persiher with out a load.

Is it brand new, or possibly surplus to requirments from last winter Olympics in Vancouver? Either way, it's a nice toy!

    ..add 50-70 grand...

Perisher needed every cat and more early on...I think some came out of retirement.

I'm amazed they don't have gps in them...

That sounds more like it perhaps. Why would it come from Queanbeyan (via Sydney) to head south?

Not 100% sure it was headed for Buller, thus the "?"

Only clue to destination was the Mt Buller truck.

As per other posts - likely to have come off a ship in Sydney and trucked to destination resort.

If it was "doing the rounds", wouldn't they leave the tracks fitted?

I'm not sure if they always remove tracks when they transport, but if you left them on it would be a very wide load. I'm not sure if that's the actual Kat which is on demo but it would make sense.

We actually did a double take on the truck because it had Mt Buller on it - they are probably specialist heavy load on snow roads which is why they where used.
