I like the Athelete's walk - would be handy to extend up to top of Alberg in future. (Nice for tourists & day trippers).

hmm I am sure I posted a few days ago, but its gone,
anyway. molonys upgrade is well over due, a bit of an eyesore as you drive into the village. cowcamp plaza doubling its seating capacity, wonder how they are doing that.
Djam, any word on the earthworks up near the top of fed chair so it will be easier to get back to the village from the summit/ wombat area

    Hi Wolly

Any low down on the works re the layout.
Are they running a cutting or just levelling the slope down, or both.

You reckon it's been easy to get 16 owners ( including George) to agree to spend a boat load of cash to upgrade a building in a resort that gets more rain than snow...... ;)

End result will be very nice though. Basham says we can get all the works done this summer. Will be a huge improvement pre our lease renewal in 2015.

Good to see these old buildings gradually brought into the 21st century.

Thinking summer tourist rather than rusted on skier, such buildings don't exactly encourage people to stay and enjoy the scenery.

I wonder when Kooroora and the old YHA buildings etc will get renovated, alongside Central and updated Cow Camp they'll look a bit of an eyesore. (Noting they've served their purpose for 40 years or so!)

Another idea would be to plant some new snow gums around the edge of the plaza/ fire pit area - starting to look quite thin in patches. ( aiding snow melt/wind speed etc)

    Cup weekend Wolly.

Mm must be the Buller Backpackers then & the old lodge to East before Kooroora.

The new building looks great but highlights the old - like any suburban complex.

Also of interest they talk about the repairs to Sun Valley Dam. I thought there wasn't anything wrong with the dam.

There are new guns going in down the right side (skiers left) of Bouke street. Pipes are in between Arlberg and Abom including data for automated running.

New Snow Guns Arrive at Mt Buller
    11 Mar 2014

New Snow Guns Arrive at Mt Buller

Mt Buller has welcomed the arrival of six new fully automatic SMI Puma snowmaking guns ahead of the 2014 winter season.

The arrival of these new guns, which will produce eight times more snow than the previous models they will replace, completes the automation of our snowmaking infrastructure on the northern side of Bourke St.

The five replaced snowmaking guns have now been relocated to the Baldy and Kofler’s areas, significantly improving the snowmaking capabilities on these parts of the mountain.

Thanks to our significant and on-going investment over the past few years, Mt Buller now boasts an extensive world class snowmaking system of 219 snowmaking machines across the resort, including 141 automatic guns.

    Yep saw them on Saturday.

The Cow Camp and Molony's works are the only meaningful building works going on this summer, I did hear there will be snowmaking expansion this year - need to clarify if it's these guns, or if it's new snowmaking area.

for me the next big improvement will be snowmaking on Standard. that would take much pressure off Buller Spur/Wombat in low seasons.

Snowmaking on Standard, Summit Slide and Mens Downhill are relatively imminent.

Don't know - that's the future plan as well as the next dam, they will definitely be the next major infrastructure upgrades unless Grimus shits itself in the interim.

    No word on timing though.

At least it is in the plan, I suspect they may need the new dam in place beforehand.

my understanding is that they need the dam to have the capacity to service those areas and they would really like to do it asap.

Hey CM - is something up with the Hooha or just an old face retiring. Saw a couple of FB posts from locals referring to all the good times passed there.

Re Hooha, my understanding is someone new has taken the new lease. Apparently the old one expired and Richard didn't like the new one. Not sure who has taken it over, maybe the Grollos??

I noticed there are new cameras mounted on the roof at both Bluff Spur hut and TBJ, including a solar panel to charge the battery, when we rode out to number 3 last week. I expect images from these will be available online soon :)

Drove up yesterday with a friend for lunch and a poke around.

Mansfield was absolutely chockers - not sure I have ever seen it that busy! Buller was a hive of activity too with fun runs, egg hunts and an abundance of MTB riders.

Lunch/beers at Apres, then walked the village to work off 3% of the massive burger. High cloud/blue sky and low single figs was perfect for a lazy afternoon wander.

Molony's is looking fantastic as is the Cow Camp refurb. No summit hike this time...CBF walking from Arlberg. Coffee at a much calmer Produce Store on the way home.

A couple of snaps of Molony's to show the direction it's taken:

Great weekend at Buller and will become a fixture on my calendar.
Stacks of people up there, but still many lodges empty, crazy really.

Great work by the mountain with all the activities for kids and adults. The Fun Run, Sport Hall set up, Egg Hunt, Pump Track and Sunday Service in the Chapel all fantastic and hugely supported. Need to put in more k's next year for the run, its a doozy.

Heard last week that the new environmental audit has allowed a lot of summer grooming to happen.

Basically a mate of mine who works at Buller year-round did a full vegetation audit, and as such Buller now has the permission to summer groom in the non-sensitive areas, as opposed to previously where it was totally banned.

I believe Lower Men's Downhill and something on the North Side recently got the snip.

It did look like Mens Downhill, Cow Camp etc had had a lot of summer grooming over recently.

Team X used to be a great option for the kids....people must be starting to think is it still worth while with constant reduction in days.

I think the camera at the gate record cars number plates as people pass through the gates
