any one worked out how they drive there. maybe up standard lane , past Mansfield ski club onto a new road,,,, or a tunnel from Arlberg under baldy
Fabulous, just what Buller needs for a development. Multi million dollar apartments. I was worried they were going to invest in better infrastructure for the punters or a non rip off taxi system, thank god they didn't.
I tried googling 'grollo buller development' and got this could read ok in Google on iPad but not on Safari now can't read in google
tried googling again on phone Grollo family’s luxury ski village development for Mt Buller given go ahead March 8, 2016 6:19pm JOHN MASANAUSKASCITY EDITORHerald Sun An artist’s impression of a chalet apartment development at Mt Buller. A MULTI-million dollar up-market hotel and chalet apartment development planned for Mt Buller by the Grollo family has been given the green light after years of wrangling. Located on a prime village site, the long-term project will feature boutique accommodation, a restaurant, a cafe and a wellness centre. The asset development manager for Grollo Group subsidiary Groset, Martin Ansell, said it would be one of the nation’s outstanding alpine developments. “This has been at least 10 years in the planning — there’s been a lot of interest from generational Buller people with the position where it is,” Mr Ansell said. “It will have ski-in, ski-out, drive-in, drive-out, and 360-degree views.” To be called Whitehorse Village, the hotel and six three-storey chalets with three-bedroom apartments on each level will be on the so-called Fawlty Towers site, which currently has mountain staff lodgings and a workers’ shed. The Whitehorse Village development will feature a hotel and six three-storey chalets. Designed by Interlandi Mantesso Architects, the complex will sit next to the popular Bourke St ski run in a precinct known as the “Toorak” of Mt Buller. Nearby up-market hotel Breathtaker was among some lodges that initially objected to the development, claiming its scale would create “a very suburban feel” and affect the pygmy possum habitat, among other concerns. However, a compulsory conference convened by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, which included representatives of state planning minister Richard Wynne, resolved the issues. Mr Ansell said the heights of some buildings had been scaled back and all environmental issues ticked off: “Like everything, you’ve got to work through the process, and we worked through that and now everyone’s supportive.” The Grollo Group is owned by Rino and Diana Grollo and managed by their son, Lorenz. They are keen skiers and own the Buller ski lift company and several properties on the mountain. john.masanauskas@news.com.au @JMasanauskas
Views would be off the charts. Might be able to pick one up cheap once they have been on the market for 3-4 years.
Yeah that is weird, I have never had any issues doing that. As long as is a direct link to the article and you don't have to click through any further.
Agree Madness to buy off the plan you'd think I always reckon these buildings are more about the developer building a place for themselves and their family and hopefully getting snow blind punters to pay for it I'll bet the "penthouses" are already spoken for Might be a sub-pent available....but you'd better sign now
Beware adrenalin real estate purchase Ouch! CharlieCalabiano gets a bargain(Not) I think it changed hands recently for @$7M
It will be sad to see the last remaining part of the original Standard Run route turned into road to access this lot. This used to be my favourite part of the mountain - the pretty 200m section that wove from skyline though what is now Christina/Gliss then out past Mitre / Hima. Another blow to truly ski in ski lodges in this Standard Lane corner
Sorry Seth, the current Standard will stay as is, the original Standard wove though the lodges higher up and is still slightly skiable. I would expect the new access road up and beyond Breathtaker will be over this original little trail, albeit only about 80m of it remains. The section where pink and blue come close is used to be so, so pretty, and the essence of Aussie ski in ski out which made our original villages unique in the world. Don't even start me on the road clearing snow dump the RMB do towards the end of the blue line, making Standard unsightly and near inaccessible for kids from these nearby lodges. Red - Current Standard Blue - Original Standard Pink - Likely road
Just re-reading the thread Hilarious that Breathtaker went the pygmy possum objection God bless it's furry little belly and clover leaf ears
To be fair on reading that piece, Breathtaker only spoke of affecting habitat, which I assume is genuine. This rocky southern steeper side of the village is prime rocky habitat, if any do indeed exist in there. They promote the f' out of the little critters but seemingly turn a blind eye if there's a buck in it.
this has already started, holes dug, survey pegs all over the site and up the road behind Breathtaker.
