    Back in the 80's and early 90's (pre-internet) I used to travel Europe with a Thomas Cook rail time timetable which was great. Lots of maps and had all the times. You just had to make sure you checked all the little notes eg. what days a service ran on, whether reservations were required etc. Kept a couple of them.
    Now of course it's all available online, though I still have an old map for reference.
