I am not sure, but was just looking at BullerBus and HothamBus, adult for Bullerbus is 172 return, while hothambus is only 129, really really confuses me, i thought buller is closer?

Firstly HothamBus and BullerBus are commercial operators. Try V-line the public regional public transport operator.

Alright cheers, but the price isn't available for viewing online, do you have a rough idea as to how much it will cost? Will be calling them tomorrow

Using a big backpack for luggage eliminates the need for over snow if you're fit.

I think it's because we don't ride share enough or pick up hitchikers with skis, so the bus companies try and make as much as they can when they can like any seasonal business. Can't blame a business for trying to make money

Unless I'm misreading, that Extragreen brochure has an option for a day's skiing for $174 including lift ticket and ski hire. That's pretty reasonable! I mean, a one day lift ticket alone costs $124 (FYI - day ticket at Whistler walk up is $139CAD)

No-one ever said skiing here was cheap but that looks like a pretty sweet deal to me and maybe they have a price for bus and lift ticket alone if you happen to have your own gear. I don't think you could get a single day skiing with gear hire cheaper than that in Oz.

There's plenty of threads in here debating OS skiing vs skiing locally if you want to investigate that further but, in relation to the OP, I think that brochure that Barras linked shows a good option.

So, you're going to ski overseas because of the price of a bus fare?
$118 return on the bus from Vancouver Airport to Whistler return, and that's for a shorter trip than Melbourne to Buller.

Where can you ski overseas that costs you $200 to get there?!

That is a bullshit throwaway line. If you can't afford a few extra bucks for travel, you can't afford to ski overseas.

If you are worried about price, go to Baw Baw.

From the car park. Depends whether you are staying for a day or longer, I suppose.

Sorry haven't checked the thread in a while, had made up my mind.

Thanks for your reply! but 174 is for child, and for adult is 200, which isn't all that bad at all, but i'm looking for more than one days of skiing, so unfortunately that won't work out for me, sorry i should have included that information

Of course not, its just annoying and irritating that a shorter trip costs more.

Sorry i really didn't explain well enough, but chill, decided to go overseas because the costs pretty much equals if i go more than 6 days probably? sorry i might be wrong, may be a little bit more, but you get the point. If it costs the same, and the snow conditions and everything is better, really no reason for me to choose otherwise. In addition, for me, July is merely a short 3 weeks break as i'm a uni students, so everything is really more tight during that time, and i expect it would be pretty crowded at buller during that time. Furthermore, where i really want to go in Aus is actually falls creek, but the accommodation does seem pretty limited there and the bus ride isn't really all that enjoyable either especially when i could only stay 3 days max. Going overseas just gives me a reason to ski more also, which i would love :) I don't know man, i just really enjoy japan, always love the hot bath/onsen at night everyday after skiing, hope this explains my decision a bit better.

Down Hill skiing is expensive so transport to a down hill ski resort is going to be expensive. It comes with the territory. Join us natural environment loving low budget people BC XC skiing and snow camping in the back country. You know you want to.
