Hi , Weatherzone member here. Hope it's ok I thought I'd create this new thread for any discussion of any CQ Weather . Vinny.
Not looking good for rain for me. I am that white patch in between those nice green ones. As usual at the first hint of rain here the wind picks up to dry it out.
The story on the news made it sound like this big event but GFS now is only going for a piddly amount of rain for Yeppoon , though a couple of other models are going for 30-40mm. Rocky hasn't even had 200mm this year.. shocking.
All over by sunday so better hurry up, but I think you are right, dams have been empty for a long time here.
All this rain predicted, 7Local News mentioned flood watch? It's just overcast windy and cool. This year is odd, it's like it just won't rain much. Unless 30mm falls overnight ?
Yearly rainfall is shocking , Rocky is on just 184mm this year. Gladstone 0.6mm so far today lol. Geez 281mm this year so far, should be just over 600. Brisbane and Yeppoon about the same 380 something mm
Weather is ridiculous, have to have a fan going during the day dew point of 17/18 deg... humidity 78-80 percent . GFS keeps going for just 15-16 deg on Sunday...we will see.
I'll probably stop posting in here if I'm going to be the only one posting . Although it could be due to lack of actual weather here.. not sure.
Give it time, imo. Once people can no longer post on WZ I'm sure they'll get the memo and look to find somewhere else to go.
CQ was never the most active forum. I hope my mates from there come on over. I think that it was very kind, if unnecessary, for this ski lot to send me some of their freezing weather. Woke up this morning to ice cold wind blasting round the place. Dogs ran away from me when I called them to take their jammies off.
Weather forum bookmark page for the WZ folk who just want a quick overview of this weather forum https://www.ski.com.au/forum/weather-forums.html Works nice on mobile (of course! )
Bit concerning that Rocky even with this cooler weather at night is still 3 deg above average for minimums. Unfortunately winds tending more onshore by the weekend.
I'm in the south east (Kin Kin, near Noosa) but I have family in Rocky so always kept an eye on the CQ thread. It's a lovely place but boy it just doesn't know how to rain up there!
Is South Western Queensland weather allowed here? Curious to know if other large weather events have occurred recently out there apart from the floodwaters from earlier this year. Roads are still under in the south west corner just east of Cameron's Corner and I am wondering if this is from recent events or the water is still making it's way south?
Finally, time to talk TC's and build up, for our Tropical folk. 19/20 Monsoon & TC Thread has been posted: https://www.ski.com.au/xf/threads/19-20-australian-monsoon-tc-season-thread.86070/
Ensemble spread is quite wide but Master run looks confident. GFS following the trend for some solid instability around Central Queensland
4mm in light showers here in Moranbah at lunch time today. So much cooler than it has been too. Happy New Year everyone.
6mm all we got never has the lawn looked so brown, i water every day with pop up sprinklers underground water. I hope that brown isn't permanent.
Don't worry mate, you're not alone. A few green patches are trying to pop up here but I suspect it'll be all brown again by next week.
60mm fell last night and further south on the coast you go 11mm then nothing here. Having said that tipped out 93mm since Saturday.
Anyone know Why the second one GFS keeps on insisting rain next week but OCF is not going for much? I hope GFS is accurate but the BOM forecast seems more in line with OCF at the moment for the next week.
Also this is it saying above normal next month , what's with the 5 and 0 and 2 lots of numbers now for each month (didn't use to look like this )
Hey Vinny, Should we still use this thread? Seems last response was a while ago but rain season only just started. Some possible storms next weekend, particularly gladstone area on some models...BOM meteye not real keen though. At least October, or the end of it was nice...if patchy. Surprised to see a thunderstorm warning on BOm for this arvo..small cell moving north.
