Another cracking season in Hakuba. Lifts closed up yesterday. 13 seasons under the belt now. Thought I may have had 10 in me but still fighting fit. As Warren said if you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do. Take the plunge now. I can thoroughly recommend it.[IMG]

Geez, I was hot to trot in March, but all I ever read was it was raining and spring had come early. Did it have a late rally?

Plenty of flyjins early March which made it even better for the locals. March and April were awesome. You were probably reading snowjapan reports from the weather station in town :)

3 months without a day job would be amazing. I love my job but that would be the real dream.

If you want to ski in the village. I prefer to do it on the mountain :)
There reporting is ridiculous. You can't extrapolate what is happening at a weather station down near the train station to what is happening 10 k down the road 1000 meters higher. They need to separate each resort and take a measure half way up to get any real truth in reporting of snow coverage.

OK, thanks for the info. I kinda thought they would be using data from all over. Sounds like they just look out the back window.

    Ha ha,
That is LITERALLY what happens in many Japan resorts.

We had a few March days this year at one resort that was in my top days of the season. In fact way more snow in March than Feb this year I reckon. In the 5 seasons I have lived here, three of those, I have had GOOD pow days mid March although this year will be hard to beat!

Yeah agree with TJ and others, the snow reporting in Hakuba is really poor and no way reflects what we actually got.

I'm used to the Australian resorts, which always put as good a spin as they can on snow conditions. The idea of a resort understating the quality of conditions is new to me. I was in Hakuba in March 2018 and loved it, but the snow reports seemed more positive then too. Funny country, Japan.

In Myoko they way under report. I think it's because they don't want to discourage people from driving up thinking it's too difficult. I've seen reports for 20cm and there's at least 60cm+ outside my front door.
