Here’s a few pics taken today to get the thread moving on a little......

Just a short walk up to Stillwell, out towards the ruins then back into the village. Nice weather (albeit some smoke haze) and not too many marchies!

View from our lodge today (SASC). Renovations in progress. Great weather and noted folks setting up for a wedding at lodge next to the Chalet. Wonderful spot for that I reckon!

Busiest I’ve ever seen this time of year..... staying on mountain so no probs for us. But others....,.,

Cars parked back down the road past Guthrie’s!! The point where we often park to skin up to the trig!!

We just did a short walk out to the old chair ruins. 10kms return. Walked from the village base so no parking issues here. Then down to Alpine Eyre for a latish lunch. A few folks but nothing silly. They were all heading to Kosi or Blue Lake.

By the look of all those cars it was probably a good idea, wow that's a lot of cars. I bet Thredbo was full too. Mt Kosi must of been very crowded.

Lots of people down the south coast too, good weather always helps.

    Yep.

Not a lot of folks using it. Some friends of mine caught it back down the hill for 5 bucks. Limited hours from around 10:00 am till 2:00 pm. But nice to see it operating.

Charlottes has commercial opportunities that need to be explored and capitalised on in the coming years....

    Just a mugs opinion though...

Good stuff . Finally cp seem to be getting it but a half baked approach isn’t good enough . We stayed there last Easter and were amazed at the cars lined up all the way down past the entrance to cp . Their is a huge opportunity for them to make it known that the chalet is open with food and entertainment and chair all day . There is an Motza to be made at Easter if they do it right rather than hoping that people notice that they want them there

So @hipo, @Astro66 and I did a bit of resort touring today. After Perisher, Charlotte Pass and a nice wander down to the river. A gorgeous but rather chilly day

Then a well earned burger at Steve’s (base of Eyre t bar) on the way back.

Charlottes locals 5 day pass on sale. $219 for 5 days if purchased before 7 May. Limit one set per person. Good ticket for launching out the back as well.

Includes oversnow, lunch and lift for the day.

    Transferable ticket... best value going!!

They advertise. Close off date at that price was by the 7th. It goes up each week by $20 till it hits the regular price st $279.

There are always the other options that can get you a day up there with a mate for circa $52 bucks each.

CP office in Jindy is point of contact otherwise online.

nezumi do you think there is any reason why this cannot be used to travel in to a lodge , ski that day ,stay a week , ski the last day and go home?

You could try asking CP about that, but I suspect that they place a control on the numbers staying overnight. It's likely similar to the situation with day trips vs transfers at Mt Buller - segregating the market leads to better revenue in general.

Is this a new (second hand) transportation bus for Charlotte's Pass resort? ie: Big, long red one that looks like an american school bus.

Interesting... No, I haven't seen that one before. Anything to make it easier/quicker to get in is good IMHO. I really don't mind if it increases the number of day trippers. There really aren't that many and never will be (unless they did build some 'link lifts') and I'd prefer the place to be busier and profitable rather than shut down...

Just booked my first 2019 day trip to Charlottes for this Saturday.

$20 bucks and 19 cents for oversnow and a day ticket. No lunch. Only the chair running but, hello....... easy access up to Stilwell for a few early season turns....

I’ll wave good morning to the masses at PV on the way there ;).

Heard it on the radio. Marketing to open the season I expect. But great value. Just went into the Jindy office and sorted 4 tickets. They still had vacancies for the oversnow at various times. 20 bucks.... it’s a day out if nothing else.

I know Charlotte doesn't seem to get much love in the overall ski forums, but after some thoughts.

Currently in process on planning a later winter / early spring escape - Charlotte is one option (competing with Lord Howe or another road trip in Tassie).

Thing is, not as flexible or mobile as once was with two & a half year old & pregnant partner (five months) in the fleet. Will ride lifts for a day or two, but really it's about being snowbound & backcountry. So thoughts on best accommodation options for the fleet & how far & back one could get on a modest amount of brownie points each day in terms of the main range.

So after getting excited about BC possibilities, whilst being able to come back to shower, food & some rumpty pumpty, resistance is being encountered from the 'you can't tell me about mountain culture Italian mafia'.

Speak to me about the least dated Charlotte's accom options. Hospital issue bedding doesn't worry me if I'm getting fresh tracks, but the gestating one will make plenty much worry for me.
