We had 5 winter ski holidays there when junior was very young.
Stayed at The Chalet, free and good child minding, kids eat separately and have an after dinner amusement club whilst parents dine sans offspring.
    Great food.
    Ski in and out.
    Recommend for a young family.
    Great BC options.
    Not super exxy.
    Do it!!!

Am keen, but Kosci Chalet came back on the expensive side of cheap - bit over $5G for seven nights end of season, without lifts.

Look up Southern Alps Ski Club.

    https://www.sasc-aus.com/southern-alps-lodge

Rooms basic but tidy....it’s catered and the food is fine.

Lounge area good for your missus if she is sitting about during the day.

As others have said, plenty of side country and BC options from there. I’ve done Carruthers and surrounds from the lodge but if you have a day pass then you avoid the first skin out of the resort. Lots of opportunities for a short skin nearby if you need to stay close to family.

Your pricing will be as a temporary member......

As an aside, end of last season Arc’teryx ran a 3 day gig out of there. That was 3 days of touring, filming etc. Those attending seemed comfortable enough with the lodge, albeit basic rooms. I think it’s back on this year but yet to hear.

    Good luck.

@Rabid K9 Actually try any of the club lodges eg Targangil... end of season for CP (September) often sees vacancies despite being prime touring time (will be there first week of September as well as the week after next)

Not sure about how you would arrange meals, but this is an option: https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/ga-lucy-lodge-charlotte-pass-3

$999 p/p for 7 nights at Lucy Lodge, including lifts and daily breakfast.

Sunny calm day Tow the family out to the restaurant ruins in a pulk. Do a TV lap or two and toboggan half the trip home. Win win and a doodle. PS toboggan responsibly at all times

OK what he said about SASC is probably the go. Its a big lodge, not sure if Chris and Ali are still there, but if they are, he is one of the better lodge chefs in the mountains.

The place has a living / dining area to hang out, and a quieter library upstairs.

You do have to bring your own linen in though....

Yep. It’s a good 3 days. Dave is heading up the guiding again as far as I’m aware... I was not aware of which lodge though.

I'll message his lodge managers where he stay's. I'll see if he's been in this season. Strange as he always buys a season pass.

@Lady Penelope CP report for week before last:

    - @Sago 's old lodge has been renamed Lucy.
    - Snow was slick (may have changed due to some dumpage)
    - Lifts being held together with paper and strings.
    - Down to one operational groomer.
    - Oversnow fleet falling apart (including new big red thing).

Kevin needs to stop flogging cheap day passes to people who will never return and re-evaluate his core market i.e Families with young children and backcountry / sidecountry skiers. If he doesn't refocus, he will have no operational lifts, no groomed snow and no way of getting punters to and from his resort of nothingness.

I will be back in September for an update.

@Fozzie Bear , aiming to get up there the 1st week of September. if your there that week please advise. BTW I don't recognise the renaming of Alitji lodge to Lucy Lodge. For some reason doesn't do the lodge justice. The history created in that lodge deserves a little more respect. I'm not being biased but 13 season's there might do that!!

@Sago back for another week at TGG. Wayne and Alex doing an excellent job, second year after replacing legends Mocko & Nola. And speaking of legends, very wrong to have a picture of one of them and not both, as a team, down in the Chalet.

i concurr with this, and thats the vibe among most with both Alitji and Nola. as Fozzie says things looking real grim early on in season but currently lots of snow, mountain looking in great shape with groomers coming along very nicely and all lifts actually operating, last few weeks been classic cp in a good way with little crowds and just the usual mishaps of cp.

I just had a great Wednesday at CP on the $59 Groupon. Nothing wrong with my oversnow transport, it was on time, did not breakdown and staff were friendly as always.
All the lifts were running, nothing broke down and no chairs fell off..
The snow was fantastic, all runs were well groomed, Gutherie's being the highlight for me.
No crowds, straight on the lift every time, a chilled out and relaxed place to ski compared to the other place.
Just $59 and the day off work was a bonus. Can't complain about that :p

I bear an uncanny resemblance to my avatar........ flapping ears, though hiding under a mass on hair. And mode of schussing depends on the weather / snow conditions. I might be AT'ing and heading out of bounds... or I might be tuning short radius turns with Roberto on race skis.

The Tucker was working 2 weeks ago.. have to say the Isuzu buses are more comfortable in my opinion. Sit sideways in the Tucker and it is cramped, more noisy and vibey.. does look cool though

Tucker fixed, all groomers working. Yesterday was one of the best spring days I've had here to CP. No freeze / thaw cycle, snow was excellent all day with Guthries being the pick.

2 cm dusting last night and a bluebird day to come. Off to Blue Lake after brekkie.

    Wots your snow condition like?
