You and your daughter are still 'little'!
Oh that's a different load than the one I tried - the liftie was getting me to put it under my back armpit (and between legs for skiers). Maybe I was on a different type of surface lift after all
EDIT: actually I think I have that the wrong way around. Apparently my memory is shot lol
Oh, I’m going to miss that poma! It’s a ... one of a kind
On her first 2 trips to CP (3 & 4) she had to ride the little poma with an instructor. She was so light it would lift her off the ground.
Is that lift still self loading?
I used to go flying when loading on it when I was young, so many good times
Yep. Green light go!
Nope. The self loading mechanism went kaput a few years ago, so cheaper to put a lifty there than to fix it. Can't recall it being used as a self loader in at least 4-5 years.
Still got the traffic light though? Am I getting confused with Selwyn?
Still has the traffic light and the trip wire..... and a lifty to hand you the poma and pull the release lever. Hopefully you will get to see it this year.
I think confused with Selwyn!
Trying to get through on phones to book oversnow transport is driving me mad. Which is the best no to call as there is one on the groupon ticket 64173070 and one on the Charlotte Pass website 64571555. First one called at 0900 and was 7th in cue and still waiting at 1100. Second no called at 1045 and was 6th in cue so will see which one answers!! Aarrggh!!
Same experience (mine is same age as ski chics gurl , for those that don't know).
I would have her straddle my right leg ( she learnt on skis first / back then) and .... hang on !
Uhhh yes good luck! I called 64571555 when booking our groupon, and aside from a long wait time it did work out in the end, so should be fine either way.
That’s what the instructor did, lifties wouldn’t let me do the same. But she spent most of her time in the childcare anyway.
does anybody have intel on daydripper availability? i have half a dozen burning a hole in my pocket. dont want to book without snow on the ground - realistically, wouldnt bother going unless the pomas running - but also dont want to miss out.
Currently waiting for the Oversnow!!!! It’s a beautiful day, can’t wait to see CP under a blanket of snow for my first time
the ride up the hill is half the fun.
the world disappears behind you as you go past Mt. P.
The converse being the sight of Perisher on return and thinking Boganville in the snow
I always feel Perisher is a bit of a supermarket.
Happily I'm based out the back.
btw pencilled in a traverse around the back way to Charlotte first week of Sept.
Might just miss you. At CP from 5 to 11 September.
Sooooooo the lift is broken
reallllllly wish I brought my splitboard right about now!!!!!
Eeek! I've got ten days skiing there coming up in theory. Heading down tomoz. Hoping for the best but looks like more snow is needed to fill in .
Wadda I sez....... best place to go BC from.
You were right and I was wrong haha. We just walked up the slope instead - was hard work!
it’s fixed now! The snow is epic, powdery and beautiful
The ride here was intensely beautiful
Epic day, but a long day-trip from Canberra.
Photos and trip report tomorrow, sleep now
Pic or two from today. Best part of today was seeing a few of the Selwyn lifties and ski school back on the job. Big seven months for that crew.
Looking good Three weeks to go
Kozzie triple chair only open to the top for sightseeing untill now, but word around the traps is open for riders tomoz.
Have new pattern based skis for wide ranging adventures
They said that on the ski report on the radio this afternoon. Why do they give a ski report for a resort where you can't ski?
They give one for Selwyn! It’s my radio station and I’ll say what I want to.
Has been open to mid station thus far
Coupla more pics of the upper bowl for yaz
An old timer lady in the lift line said " it's a bit like what we used to ski in Tassie all the time, a few bushes and rocks, just gotta give it a go". Everyone's got a smile on their dial here.
looks ok doesnt it teleroo. thanks for the pics. 20-30 cm should fill that out nicely.
30cm be great. Not sure the next blow will deliver however, bit of an oddball system by the looks of it.
Unfortunately only open half way again today for sliders, too many rocks up high apparently. I hoofed up, crossed over the ridge to Kosi Rd, again on foot. But then good coverage along Kosi Rd back to the top of the resort entry road. XC style, but a nice hour and a half.
Today. Snowed on and off. Chair still only open to mid station.
But this morning it looks from the webcams that you'll have the T open and the chair to Top Station no problem!
My daughter and I get down there in two weeks (albeit Thredbo this year) and we were getting a little concerned.
Last week in July should normally be safe, but I prefer going in August.
bit nervous about my daytrip tomorrow. winds dont seem that strong - perisher and thredbo running most things. assuming it mostly comes down to more limited resources for things like de-icing etc.
will pack the skins just in case it's a day of perisher sidecountry.
"Day Tripper Bookings – Tuesday July 14
Due to the current strong winds and in line with our COVID Safe Operating Plan, Day Tripper products booked for today have been affected.
Day Trippers booked on Oversnow transport times of 9:30am onwards may not be brought into Charlotte Pass today.
Guest Services at our Perisher Valley desk will facilitate the transfer of your Day Tripper product to another day in the 2020 snow season.
Resort facilities remain open for guests who are already in-resort. "
Cleared up this arvo. T bar got going from 2:15pm. K Triple supposedly good to the top tomoz too.
Much filled in
Building the base out to Guthrie's
Main Range today
So they haven't groomed the SRI trail yet?
Snowy River Invincibles (it's from quite a while ago... there's a long story...)
The trail that goes from the Chair dismount area round the back to the 'green/Intermediate' runs (about half way along to the T) that take you back to the Chair if the thought of skiing the main face is too much. The trail really extends all the way to the T and then even around to the pass itself and thence to Guthries...
On the trail map https://charlottepass.com.au/trail-map/ it is roughly what they have marked as "Top Of The World".
Ok, SRI was go today. Nice view.
