Looks like first snow at Hotham
Hail, plenty of wind and rain at Crackenback/ Bullocks.
Sleeting hard at Buller.
this thread is cruel and unusual punishment. see ya next March.
Meanwhile, The lads being dorks on Mar 31, 2019 - top of Pulpit T at Charlottes.
Perisher has snow!
Hotham looks like it received a bit of rain in the past half an hour, washing the snow away, with the temps going back up a notch.
Going to be inconsistent for a few more hours.
Yeah rain again at Buller
10am this morning (YMEL). Good looking upper levels. Let down by lower atmos.
Good thermal instab though.
Classic case of upper levels unsupported by warmer lower atmos ATM, pretty normal for a extra-seasonal system.
Will tease until those 850 temps drop around 5/6pm for Buller.
29 in Perth today and a few 35s over the next week. Hating it!!
Colder air is on the way with mt William down to 2.2c and Radar has plenty of heavy showers pushing across vic from the south west.
Currently 10c in the strezleckis vic. Had a band of rain come through earlier which saw the temp drop to 8c.
25mm up here so far
Heavy sleet again. Definitely at the wet end of the sleet spectrum tho....
Snowing steadily on basin cam (Thredbo)
Gusty on the Jindy north shore
Little bit of white on the ground after that last burst.
Looks and feels a little snowy from here ..
Classic Monaro skies, but with green grass.
Main cold tongue @210pm was just licking the main land.
Just got drenched walking the poor dog, the temp really dropped with last band of rain. SE Melb
So good to see something positive (and snowy) being observed in the forums for a change...
Thredbo cams starting to look very white
The rest of the resorts will come soon.
Freeze point just hit Baw Baw.
AWS reading 0.0ºC
Appears to be some very wet snow down to Thredbo village level, on the cams.
Mid-Mountain (circa 1550m):
Kosci Express Load (1370m)
Nice to see
LM has not only locked their gates but they turned off their only cam this morning. Not impressed
And they took their weather station offline on Monday.
Aren't we even going to be able to look at it this winter?
Nice little embedded trough about an hour out from hitting Buller.
~5pm on knocker.
Good hail from that trough @POW_hungry - Also dropped temps 5c.
Yep that intense line just hit us with some hail! Drop temp from 10c to 6c! Chilly out there now.
Baw baw about to get smack with that trough your talking about pow
5.4ºC temp drop in 20 mins at Warragul. But only 3mm fall.
And flakes at Baw Baw.
3-5cm on Thredbo's basin cam IMO.
They’ll stick that captain keen character up there soon enough.
As low as 4.8° C today (currently in the lower 5° C range), with heavy cloud and rain increasing.
11.0 mm in the gauge; and westerlies had gusted as high as 43–44 knots.
App temp at Thredbo TS currently -12.9.
Gusts to 80 km/h @ Eildon
Well...... that did not take long....
It has mostly melted at PV pending the next round.
Which appears to have just started... rain, sago and windy.
EDIT: Snowing up high.
Snowing moderately on Buller Village cam.
No it didn’t take long for Parks to save us from ourselves?
With Baw Baw access road closed, I wonder if the rest of Vic hills will be formally closed soon too! There’s lots of cars in the cams at Falls - maybe they are all locals and (Essential?) tradies/construction?
It’s ironic though: crowds allowed in the cities and towns - as long as there’s a buck in it.
But relatively deserted mountains (away from the ski village!) are off limits?
I really get (support) the isolation rule but it’s so inconsistent- apparently busier urban walking and cycling trails are safer than remote mountain trails - where in autumn one could walk all day without seeing another person?
Hail in brunswick. Only a ground cooler here
Don't think that's the BB road.
Snowing nicely at Buller for the last 30 mins
Snowing Baw Baw and a big cold blast of hail went through around the foothills here now. Should see it all white soon
I'm sitting in Perth, with warm temperatures, and a probability of close to zero getting over there this season, and yet I can honeslty say I'm still excited!!
Glacial worms will be active
I observe......One of your best posts! Let’s hope we can get you some mountain vibes.... Or better, everyone gets some snow at some point!
