... the Pacific Northwest. This week, on top of historically well above average snow base, the PNW has received 5 or 6 days of solid snowfall. Some areas have received well over a metre, turning what was already very good into absolutely epic. Temps have been cool but not cold, with some snow falling almost to sea level around Vancouver, so quality powder is the word of the week in the resorts.

This thread can be a place to record where the snow and weather have combined to make for ski perfection. We all know this is a day to day thing, so let's keep a running commentary of where it's hottest for those who are road tripping or considering getting on a plane.

This week it's the PNW, where will the best snow in the world be next week?

Big inbounds avalanches at both Squaw and Mammoth. Rescues at Squaw and reports of burials at Mammoth which shut down this morning indefinitely

Glad to hear they're finally getting some in California. Some of my Apex mates are on their annual US road trip at the moment, they went as far as Utah and conditions weren't great so they turned around back to Jackson. We've been taunting them with pics of what they're missing at their local hill.

I’d be telling them to turn back around to Utah quick smart. Incoming.

I saw a video today of a mate patrolling at Squaw that was just incredible.

Probably privacy protected but you never know:

Might as well nominate interior BC for this week. Even the relatively dry Okanagan/Thompson resorts (SP, BW, SS, Apex) all have base over 300 cm and overnight new snow for 11 or 12 consecutive days now. 300 cm base only happens barely once a decade, but there is still a month left in the season. If they receive normal March snow, base could end up at around 350 when lifts close. That would be all time best season ever.

Has been pretty darn good about parts of the southern European Alps the past week.

Very good quality snow, on big terrain.

I haven't heard much about conditions in the alps this season, do they have good base?

Young Fiffer Wombat was telling me they've got a very healthy 3m base where he was in Switzerland, but it's been "heavy wet fog" at about -16 weather wise for most of the last 3 weeks.

Yep, particularly south of the divide. Cold, with moisture feeding in of the Med has been February. Plenty of tree riding options.

Dolomites going off. Piedmont seems non-stop, but more unsettled.
