Bringing the c’est la vie!

corona virus ..................... not bothered really and it wont stop me skiing , slid around the hills last season with a torn ACL so some little bug isnt going to stop me. As much as some are offering a bit of doom and gloom here I offer a positive vibe ..........corona virus finished and gone by end of May in rural areas ,international travel restricted until October ,Sydney and Melbourne in lockdown until October long weekend. Yep its gunna be a great winter for us country people ....... imagine going up Ridge in your own chair at 9.30am , get bored and head over to your private chair and t bar on Mt P ............ stuff of dreams I tells ya , stuff of dreams.
Also, stats don't apply to individuals.
You either get it and die or you don't.
There is no percentage of dead or alive to an individual. They are mutually exclusives states of being.
Well I just bought an Ikon Pass....
It's more the misinformation that's out there that concerns me - so many people running around thinking it's just like the flu or the common cold. It's not.
I'll remember this the day I bump into you.
FWIW, I've had more bookings for my place at Buller up to yesterday than for the same time in any year since I started renting it out.
Don’t make it a fist bump
or ring ski patrol! bahahaha
I work in a school that has a a lot of students with relatives overseas.
It's quite common for many of our students to travel travel to visit them.
a few of our teachers travel overseas as well - especially to asia
I figure I am at a greater risk of exposure at work every day now than I will be for a few days at Perisher in 5 months time so I am definitely still booking
although I realise now having just read what i wrote that perhaps i may BE the danger in 5 months time..........
South Korea stats say otherwise.
It's difficult to know what to believe at this stage.
Would normally book a few visits to lodge that I'm a member of. Its known to have had a few norovirus style bugs circulate in school holidays in the past, so this year I'll be going apartment only. Already got a booking in for early August.
I'd already purchased passes for myself, wife and kids for the season + season-long ski school package for the kids before it broke out.
Honestly, if it spreads like it has in Italy and some other parts of the world I'd be seeking a refund or at least for Perisher to 'carry over' the passes to the 2021 season. I think the buildings at Perisher will simply act as virus-spreading tents
Just got my two week July school holiday lodge slot at Perisher confirmed. A lot of money down the drain if it all goes pear shaped. But what can ya do eh? If ya don't book now can't get accommodation at all pretty much in the hols.
IMO - Perisher will close the lifts for large periods this winter due to Corona fears.
I wouldn't be shocked to see it closed through school holidays
They won't close the lifts. They will be on demand.
Schrödinger begs to differ.
are you familiar with heisenberg's uncertainty principle?
Maybe, maybe not. I'm not sure.
If you have no idea where you're starting from on this then you're prolly pretty certain where you're going with it.
Woolworths at Jindabyne out of toilet paper and hand sanitiser on the weekend
Still cant find that "Dislike" button . . . . .
I’m considering cancelling my season pass and using the money to buy a splitboard setup instead...
Am I the first forum member to be officially placed in self-isolation for Coronavirus????
Doctor rang me this morning and asked me to present myself to Emergency Department at hospital. When I arrived, they were expecting me, handed me a mask to put on immediately an directed me into an isolation room where the medical staff suited up, checked vital signs (no issues) and took a swab. This is NOT pleasant as it is stuck down your nose until touching the back of your throat, where they wriggle it around for a sample. Definitely a Gag moment!
I was then told the tests would take 3 days so I had to self-isolate until results were know. Bugger!
I believe I have a common flu with really awful symptoms, much worse than what they describe for Coronavirus.
Good luck Jacko
As well as symptoms have you had a contact with it, contact who travelled or you yourself travelled?
@filski stuck at home as a potential contact but not tested.
@Pelm1 I think it was got tested but all clear.
Did you have a known exposure or travel?
This is why they insisted on testing - I can't be sure about contacts as we own and operate a tourist park and a motel - lots of people from all over the place coming through.
No, came out of Italy a week ago got tested the day after we returned ,tested negative
wife and I went to the docs on Friday. They thought we had a cold. I'm pretty much recovered but the wife has got worse. She got tested this am.
I went to the doc with cold/flu symptoms this morning. No high risk contacts so didn’t get tested, just sent home and given the rest of the week off work
Btw the Dolomites ski area closed all lifts yesterday
that doesn't sound good
Only until you observe the "life form" at which point their wave function collapses to a discrete solution, dead or alive.
Came down with a cold last Wednesday evening, been home since, but won't be tested as I haven't travelled or been near someone who has.
At our regular GP practice a few weeks back they implemented a process to see patients who are coming to check for suspected COVID-19 whereby the patient stays in their car and a practice nurse in full protection gear comes out to take a swab sample and then securely dispatched to the lab.
Maybe as a plan B, if we’re heading into an Italy situation in July or August they could get creative and just set everything up in 2 week ‘quarantine blocks’ - no one in or out except at change over....
Skitube = Incubator. Thredbo gondola - Incubator. T Bars or backcountry travel only.
Might excuse the t bar singles eh
The crappy ski mask/ Balaclava prolification will be unbearable.
Likely they will be something like this instead.
Didn't work for @LMB ...
Selwyn will be the safest place to be!
That’s because I wasn’t being tested for COVID19.
Quarantine bug out locality ....
