As I was so nicely asked to make a new thread regarding this. Here it is.....
if someone feels that they need a test by the time they get to Perisher ......... omfg.
I think big PB would be first in line to personally knock them out (with gloved hands and face mask).
edit : our club COVID policy is along the lines of ...
if you show symptoms during your stay you immediately mask up ( which you are require to have supplied / with you on arrival) and leave the premises.
Your own family and/or other close contacts are required to do same.
My comment was to say, if you make enough noise about it, then the call might be made that it's a risk that could result in changes. eg max length stay would be one idea.
Regarding transport to get a test. There are many people in the community who don't have their own car, and must find another way to get a test, or for a doctor's appointment etc.
Unfortunately that’s the situation we live in. I’m there for 6 weeks if it doesn’t shut down ( which I cant see happening).
Your second point nailed it. I’m lucky I have a car I can park at bullocks flat. If you don’t have a car and are staying on the snow ( for whatever reason) how do you get to Jindy to get tested??
How many transport mechanisms???
How many potential transmission targets??
Not having an easily accessible testing centre at Perisher just increases the risk of potential transmission....
I don’t have the answers if I did, I wouldn’t be ranting on the internet...
I'm not getting cut.
just basically blown away at your lack of perception and understanding of the whole message that has been drummed into us all ( no matter what State you live in) for the past 4 months.
Mate......... your ranting on the internet.
Just wondering where all these potential testees will isolate while living in Perisher shared accomodation and waiting on results?
This is also a legitimate question. Let’s be honest.
If you get tested in Jindy, where are you going to isolate?? Same, same but different.
But if you are in shared accomodation and you test positive, anyone in that shared accomodation has already got it
lucky I'm on an alcohol free day.
he could've caught me after the Raiders game the other night !
In vic were setting up testing facilities at the major resorts, not just in the valleys. I find it amazing that perisher won't have testing
You'll find most accomodation plans will require you to leave. So essentially if you get symptons while at the snow, you need to go home, and get tested asap.
at Retro's place ?
edit : my club actually has a dedicated isolation room.
I’ll have to e-mail the lodge and see what the plan is. Covid tests only take 48 hours now.
I wonder if they’ll make me go home until my test come back?
Sleep in the car lol. I’ll pack a sleeping bag just in case
@Boutros advised in the Perisher thread.
Good. I thought this thread was started because they weren't going to. I mustn't have read enough of the other thread.
Even if a lodge's plan is that anyone needing to be tested should leave, there must be some provision for them not being able to do that immediately. It may involve helping them find alternative accom at their own expense. You have to protect health, not wallets.
They could be staying on the mountain and develop symptoms? Anyway, there is the doctors surgery in Perisher, where I'm sure you could get a Covid-19 test just like at any other GP (I say "any" but of course it's up to doctors themselves in Australia to determine what services they choose to offer of course).
There are a number of things Perisher could do better, especially in regards to Skitube and providing masks (even if they're sold for $2 each from a card-only vending machine that would be better than nothing at all). The pharmacy should at the very least sell individual masks for customers in the Perisher terminal, but there absolutely needs to be a solution in Blue Cow!
It was reported in the media a few weeks back that the Jindy test centre has an Express results in 60mins capability. Don't know what the reality/practicality people have seen

Is there a travel insurance product that I could buy that would payout the cost of my accommodation on a positive Covid test?
No, i believe all travel insurance has now excluded Covid related issues
Just to clarify.
No the Surgery in Perisher is not doing Covid swabs, you are directed to Capital pathology in the medical centre in Jindy and/or the drive through clinic at the community centre on Bent Street.
And the aforementioned special clinic now in Perisher.
Was told I would have my results from yesterday, this arvo.
Nope. Cooma hospital now reckon it may be 3-4days if pathology are busy.
No one knows shit. They just make it up.
Don't test and isolate people indefinately. That's bullshit.
May be next Monday/Tuesday.
Don't get tested. You may have to isolate for a f'n week after being lied too.
