Okay latest on the HM developments having just booked flights on

3 weeks all up...ticking beach, European alps, and big cities, all with a touch of romance.

Cathay Pacific was miles in front RE: flight prices. Locked in Europe return flights @ $1375 pp over Christmas which was hard to turn down.

wow great price. Is that with TA or self booking?

Take boots, not skis. You will hate the skis very quickly if you take them for the whole trip. The good news is that, if you decide to send them, you will have a few months. Slow=cheap. The trick is finding a place to send them to. Or buy over there. You will only have to deal with them for a couple of days in Paris, and TGVs know all about skis.

We took all our gear to Chamonix for 2 weeks skiing on our honeymoon and then continued to lug it through Italy and Germany sight seeing and then also through Brazil and Argentina for a few weeks. In hindsight probably wasn’t the greatest and was a PIA in numerous occasions. Even more so that the season was crap in chamonix wigh very little snow!

Yeah still haven't had a real think about snow gear.

Original plans was maybe only take our boots and then just hire boards there as we really only had 1 week out of 3 actually on snow. Now the plan's have changed subtly and we're dropping the week on the beach for a quick stopover in Japan over new years. So that pushes the snow component to probably 1.5-2 weeks out of 3 which I'm thinking I might just suck it and see with the bags.

Wheels up today :p.

Onwards to Honkers for a quick stop over and then a quick fire Hakuba pit stop. Looks like some BIG snow in Hakuba. Might not see the sun beyond Takasaki.
you are in the happy zone mega pow in Hakuba and Serre Che was the first resort in France to hit 2m snow pack this season. Have fun
