I just received official word from the FCRM as below that the Half price day entry for single occupant vehicles has been discontinued.....

    "Hi Alison,

The single driver fee doesn’t exist anymore.

    Thank-you

    From

    Brenda

Gouging a-holes who just keep piling it on. Just makes Japan, NorthAm, EU or anywhere else better value than Australia. No news there of course but they don't get it.

Geez, I know several folk who drive up to Falls solo. They won't be happy with that news.

Caravan parks have a set minimum rate which is based on a double, can cost a fortune to use them in winter and I prefer to avoid them. I struggle to justify the expense if it's a single person. Why don't they have like some European countries randonneur sites or camping spots where there's a cheaper tariff because it suits only a small setup, bicycle or hiker?

Better, perhaps, to park the car at the bottom and catch the bus up the hill.

That would probably save a few dollars in fuel but I doubt they would approve of the multiple skis and boots that I lug around in the mighty Subi. I do like to travel with my quiver, park at Windy Corner and change skis as conditions dictate. First world problems.....

No ahemm, "the carpark is getting too full with single occupant cars, environmental, blah blah, etc".
Just F**k you in the nicest possible way.

I'd understand this decision for weekend access, however weekday ...

People are in single occupant cars because other options for getting there are insufficient.

I have to put up with single at full price because bus times up and down the mountain really do suck. You have to be off the hill by 3pm. Even then, they still cost a fair quid for a short trip of a few days.

Resort entry presumes you'll use the resort facilities. If you don't, stiff s**t.
So, if I want to tour out to Timms lookout or Spion Kopje, well the Falls RMB gets me to bend over and take the salami.

At Hotham, resort entry does not pay for snow clearing outside the Hotham village. The Victorian taxpayer does.
Again, if I park at Diamatina and head off along the Razorback beyond the resort area for Feather, I've not caused the Hotham RMB one cent of expense or liability, they get to ream me for $46 per day my car is parked there.
If it snows, then the contractor paid by the state government scrapes the snow off the road. The RMB does not shed a tear.

    See that's the thing.

You can't park at Jackson Hole as a <3 occupant car (or the rate is huge, can't remember). But there's a perfectly good bus to get you there.
