looking at getting a new ski bag and the Douchebag seems pretty much ideal for what we need. Only issue I have with it are the colours - why so boring!? Do they update colours much, and if so any ideas if they might do something a little less mundane any time soon?

Colours change seasonally from November to November, agree that Green has lagged a little sales-wise compared to other colours in the past. There's a bright colour coming this November plus another old colour, better not say any more lest I get into trouble. The navy blue was a total winner, shame that was discontinued.

Proud owner of the DB for a couple of years now.
Missed out on the older model that didn't abbreviate "Douchebag":(

Mainly so they can pick them out in a sea of black at the airport.

I’ve got a couple of both.
Nothing like walking through the airport like a total tosser dragging a massive board bag with DOUCHEBAG emblazoned down the side makes me laugh every time.
I’ve got a bag strap that has our name woven into it that I thread through the top handles - extra insurance on not losing the detachable handle and easy to spot amongst the sea of dbags at oversized collection.

Ive got a first gen bag. Brilliant design, but it's developed holes much faster than any other piece of luggage I've owned.

Yes - now having sold many hundreds of DBs over the last 5 years the main knock on them is durability - if you want light weight you're not going to get bulletproof materials. If you want bulletproof, look at Dakine.

The douche roller bag needs some hard protection at the drag end underside, something that doesn't mess with the roll up ability.

Other than that it is an excellent bag.

Thanks for the responses. In answer to why I wanted a brighter colour - firstly to make it easier to pick out of the group of black/grey bags, but also my wife recently accused me of being a bore and only having drab things - I fancied responding with a few garish bits of luggage!

Tart the black douchebag up with a couple of these... no mistaken identity.

And cover your boring old suitcase in ski stickers - no missing that bag on the carousel either!

If you can't recognise your own luggage on a carousel, you shouldn't be traveling in the first place.
I reckon DB's are overpriced for what they are.

Not mine. $85 on Gumtree, virtually unused. I agree though, great bag but I personally wouldn’t stump up for a new one.

I had to use an older style padded snowboard bag to get gear home in April. One we had left in the storage room for such a circumstance. I’d bought the splitboard while over there.

PB grabbed it when we got home because he was closer and it only took a few minutes of pulling it and he asked me how come I hadn’t complained about how awkward and heavy it was, and said no wonder the only bags you buy now are douchebags.

Not everyone loves them. But for those of us that do and who have a lot of travel and bag dragging to do - they are worth the extra dollars. It’s a value equation isn’t it... if it represents value to you then the price is irrelevant.

    Bloody everything is overpriced!!

@Seth - that dB bike bag is NINE KILOS!! I thought my EVOC was absurd at 7.5 or 8 or whatever it is. Puts a serious dent in any travel allowance.

    This^^^^^^

I was going to say earlier, if you plan to rock up at an airport like Vancouver and grab the bus to a resort like Whistler the DB's aren't for you. If you plan to jump on and off trains and travel around a bit, they are the bomb. We also loved ours for the ease of packing them up when we picked up the car, the folded up and disappeared in the back of the car for a month and off we went.

It's not me I worry about. Having had my bag (suitcase not ski) taken by someone else thinking it was theirs, I do like to make it extra hard for dimwits to get confused.

Probably as good a thread as any to say that we got a massive delivery of DB the other day except the ski bags which are still a few days away. https://aussieskier.com/collections/douchebags

Plenty of Big and Little Bastard bags - these didn't even make it through the pre-order we did on the November delivery, plus heaps and heaps of Hugger 30L. The numbers of these that sell is ridiculous, people must eat them or something.

As Douchebags is a Norwegian company, we are focusing on combining the Scandinavian lifestyle together with our Norwegian heritage. Inspired by both the Norwegian nature and the urban city life, we chose to launch the Pine Green line-up.
This AW 17/18 collection which features the Black Out and Pine Green colors, are two new color ways that we are excited to include in the Db-universe. This collection combines the modern design with the urban lifestyle and this is the reason that we are focusing on these two line-ups for this season.

But we always have something up our sleeves here at Douchebags, and we look forward to showing you this fall.
I have promised the product development team to not say too much, but there might be some pretty cool styles coming in November.

As for your case @Kopite. I would say you shouldn't have to worry about being a bore when you choose a brand like Douchebags ;)
Stick with us and we'll make sure you never get boring.

    High five,
    TeamDb

Our fam has a number of douchbags. We use colours to differentiate who belongs to which bag. I've gor the red...which is a winner. My daughter has the "bile green"...I'm not a fan of that colour. I hope the pine green is a better colour.
In terms of durability, I've got the 30L hugger that I use all the time when travelling (even to non ski destinations) and when heading up/down the tube at Perisher every weekend. I've had it maybe 4 years and the strap is starting to unstitch from the bag. I think I've had fair use of it over the years, but am a little surprised that it failed at that point on the bag.

And for what it's worth, the Slim Jim is the best ski bag, IMHO. Sure, it only fits a pair of skis and stock and not much else, but great when navigating the subway in Tokyo. And then it just rolls up so small.

As someone who carries skis regularly around the country and overseas for my work. I currently own about 12 - 15 ski bags and not one of them is a Douchebag. Same same for all ski manufacturers who do demo days etc.

We need durability and protection, something Douchebag doesn't provide.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not rubbishing them at all, I think they're great product but they are what they are. If you want bullet proof protection, some backbone and strong wheels that go anywhere then the look for something else. If you want light and versatile because you don't travel much then they are perfect.

I love my douchebag for versatility and easily fit 2 x people’s gear in there for OS trips maxing out the 32kg limit and love the ability to roll it up once emptied. Only issue like others is the durability. I have had it patched multiple times which on a $300+ bag isn’t great. The ribs themselves have started protruding in some spots. Also reckon the top zip cover should open all the way down, that last 1/4 is a PIA.

LOL Created new douchebag owners this week.

Had drinks with friends on the weekend who are ready to invest in thier own gear including bags. They asked me for advice on kit so I sent them to @CarveMan / Aussieskier for Douchebags.

    Win for everyone.
I’m not sure they realise how much frustration and annoyance I’ve saved them with bags that don’t do what you want, but they were immediately sold with the ability to roll them up when empty.

Actually she has had more days on the skis I bought from @CarveMan than I have!! Maybe I should give up and flog her those :p

For my trip to Japan I took a Douchebag as my checked luggage and the 15L hugger as carry on. It fit all of my gear and clothes and still came in under the 30kg limit. Had to wrestle it a bit into the overhead rack on the Shinkansen but it fit, and with the strap I managed to change station at Ueno with no worries.
Agree with the criticism about durability though, the outside scuffs pretty easily if it catches on concrete.

Bought a hugger 30 a couple of years ago. Within a month of use (overseas carryon, not even ski related) the seam on the piece that separates the main and small top compartments had torn considerably. Genuine cause for a warranty claim. Never heard anything from the retailer regarding replacement etc., so had to do a patch job myself. Still a great bag and still using it, bit probably wouldn't pay retail just for said reason. Did also proceed to buy the actual db a couple months later though...
