I'd say $50, probably early next month. Thredbo's goes up today in think, so will be soon.

It didn't really go up by much last time. I think I could have bought it in may and it would have been about $100 more. As I don't think what I'll be doing next season I'm happy to wait.

Also - one observation from last year is that they advertised access Arapahoe Basin early on when I put the deposit down (September last year). When the pass was issued this season Arapahoe Basin was no longer part of the offering. Turns out Vale had a fallout, the owners of Abasin decided not to include it as part of the Epic pass.

Interesting that there was no communication about this to pass holders.

Agreed, the calculation involves everything going to plan and you're right, there's definitely a feeling that you don't have to endure the misery of a full day in blizzard conditions...which we've done in the past when booking in advance. I guess what I am saying, is if you've had 9 day you are officially ahead on any measurement. Also, there's some discounts off the food and drinks which is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, ski school is a bit cheaper as well, but best of all I reckon is that with an epic pass down payment of $50 you are financially committed to skiing next season...lest some family member should think of some alternative plan for winter!

Oh geez it didn't go up by more than $50 in total. (for the actually pass)

Its ski tube that typically goes up.

for us as a family of 4 saving $40 each is significant with a difference of $160 so committing early is important. However after such an awesome week we’ve decided to go for it and commit to EPIC for 2020.

    properly out next year?
i personally feel forced out by crowds, traffic, general frenzy. it would be value for me at twice the price and better experience.

Same. It’s just been too hard to get value as I don’t live there anymore. I am transitioning to earning my turns.

I will have a month in the northern hemisphere each summer and out of the resort in our winter.

Whilst the Epic pass gives flexibility to skiing shorter days and not sweating inclement weather the majority of buyers are locked into crazy crowded weekends and 6:00 am starts at PB no matter what the weather is doing.

My tip for families ..... book last week in August and ski September.

IMHO pass prices v value and user experience are at a tipping point.

it is sad that it's come to this. For a long time the recipe was to live within striking distance and day trip when conditions were good. This is now in danger for people with mon-fri jobs who actually need sleep or want sking to feel relaxed.

I’ve been trying to buy the new pass since yesterday but I can’t get past the billing address screen - it simply goes blank. If only Vail would spend a couple of grand out of its many billions on the Perisher website I’m sure interacting online with it would be less frustrating.

    Recent announcements
Kids <=4 will be $49, access to aus resorts only
0ver 70s pass $199, access to aus resorts only
    no locals passes next year
Not unexpected but very unpopular, especially with families. Skiing is school sport here. Other families may only use the lifts a few times during the season, especially if they xc as well. The increase will be very significant for families on modest incomes. I think this will cause a lot of locals to drop out of alpine skiing.

the local pass removal may well be an own goal at Falls.
many/most local families do a bit of xc and a bit of alpine. without a locals pass they will probably change that balance much more in favour of xc. they will use carparks at peak times (potentially blocking day pass buying visitors) and they are less likely to spent money in lift co outlets

Yup - if they were sensible they’d do the full equation on visitor spend, not just lift pass revenue.

This is clever. Will probably drive more families to EPIC up if they can ride with their 4 year olds for nix

I'm assuming that this has come through as an email announcement?

The pass for kids <=4 is interesting - Would this mean that these kids will be expected to purchase lift tickets at the resorts next year? Otherwise why on earth would I be spending $49 on something that is otherwise going to be, at most, $15 (3 * RFID cards)?

Its been that way at Perisher for years.
You either get a RFID card thats cheap, and you have to reload it every day or ..you get a full season pass for $49
My friend got caught out . He was doing the reload thing. Then his kid turned 5 on september 2nd.
They wouldn't honour it unless he paid the admin charge.

Super odd. Mine is born in March, so not much of an issue for age, but I was able to get a week of lifts on his card at once, so I'll just repeat that next year. I'll mainly be having him in snow school anyway.

I think the RFID card is $5.
    Reload is free...
However it was painful lining up every morning at the ticket office

I’ve had a season pass for my 5 year old for the past 5 years for a one off $5 fee for the card at Hotham. So it’s averaged out at having cost me $1 annually. So now it would be $49? Anyway, she will be 6 next year so I”ve just put down the Epic deposit —and with that gone are my days of free skiing for my kid!! Better not start adding up what the next 15 or so years will cost me!

Yeah I got the email with the countdown clock today.

Usually the price rise is only the Tube add on.
However that won't be the case this time. With Hotham and Falls included.

Is that right? I thought the advertised price Perisher quotes (829 this season) is the base price ex skitube and refund protection, and it’s that base price that rises in increments.

In the past the base price stayed the same for a period of time. While the tube price rose.

    It might not this year.
I had a glance at the ticket price board when I got off the tube yesterday, the normal pricing for season passes is eye-watering, especially including the tube.

(I really wish they listed those ticket prices in a nice table on the perisher website)

Not really. did think about it. My points come from using credit cards.
This year I took my 2nd flight in almost 20 years. The first was for a funeral in rural nsw, the recent one for a trip to tassie. Using ff points for something i need now made more sense than saving them - and probably seeing them devalue anyway.

    Wonder who did the website?
It's not the same as the old perisher one
