I wonder if a senior over 75 can still get free skiing on a Hotham/Falls ticket like they currently do or whether they need to 'suck it up' and now buy tickets.

Yep exactly $30 more than current pass early bird rate which was $799. So they’re trying to recoup that $30 credit they gave out during the power outage:)

The Epic Australia Pass doesn't actually pay for itself in under 4 days*.
Using that logic, you can pay $829 and STOP riding after 4 days (at Vail) and you're in front...... ?? o_O:crap:

Umm no. I reckon you're in front ONLY when your price per day is down to a reasonable price.

Its ****ing August, the earliest you can use the pass is June next year. If you could use it in this years northern hemisphere season maybe there's a point but launching it this early is just ludicrous.

There is no actual way to cancel if you change your mind in the next 10 months before the pass becomes active. I would rather wait and consider the minimal price rise to be retrospective pass protection that covered me against a change of mind.

I’ve noticed the price doesn’t really rise all that much up to May. So no point really locking it in so early.

Some people will jump the gun without knowing the full terms and conditions. It's borderline predatory to capitalise on the hype like this to try and lock people in.
The least we can do is make forumites aware of the real situation instead of stoking the hype.

Vail Ski Resort single day ticket was US$209 this season. I believe it's going to US$235 next season.

    Convert that to AUD and you've got 2019 @ AUD$308 or 2020 @ AUD$346. CHEAP.

My military epic pass is down $9USD per day and still got at least one more week up at Perisher in this season.

Pretty sure they both released this time last year as well. Thredbo 365 need to give people some time as it needs to be paid in October.

So they keep jacking up the walk up day pass price to convince the rest of us that we need the season pass, and Jack it up as well as the cost of add ons. Who responded to all those surveys in the last few years and told them we wanted to pay more? FFS at least fill in the potholes in the carpark. As a cranky old bastard said in the V 8 line one morning, Perisher is the only resort where you pay to be yelled at by the adolescents who run the place.
    Wait, that was me.
And I just paid the f#$&n’ deposit for 2020.

Do enough days and it’s cheap enough.....

Don’t like it go some where else or don’t go to the snow it’s your decision.

If I added up what I spent each year in the snow I’d probably stop going but what else do you do all winter?

Pick an upcoming Friday night - when the Quarterly Tax installment care factor is low ( getting sloshed helps) , and get that little plastic thing out- ( no not to be misconstrued) then weigh up the Budget adjustment versus sedated city life .

    That’s the strategy.

Vail Resorts don’t want to be reliant on snow conditions to dictate their revenue. They want to bank their money before the first snow flake falls.

It’s a great strategy for a ski resort business but it does restrict the spirit of freedom and discovery.

How many season passes do the resorts sell? You could work out the income just on those numbers. 100,000? 500,000?

So when do you normally need to make the initial payment by to get the advertised price? I'm used to hero passes being early oct. I can't see anything in this epic pass announcement

IMHO the Lift pass is the cheap part, accomodation is the killer.

Very slim picking for me this year. Only 8 days so far, probably 2-4 more this season. Big use will be 10 days at Whistler in Jan. So paid for. But now having to travel, being restricted to weekends and the utter chaos it’s been this year...that’s a no from me.

Hoping to improve on the xc skis enough to venture on outings, still get my fix, no crowds.
