Well my usual buddy I go with is a boarder, he might even come with a few times, either way it'd be awesome to meet up and cut laps together...I'm up the last week in June, even though we just had a bit of snow today it isn't much gosh I hope there's a bit more towards the end of next week and no more melty melty.
So I changed my mind and am converting from Hero to Epic on the basis that the option of skiing at Perisher is worth more than the free ticket at Falls. Conversion cost $20.
Husband and I both decided to convert from Hero to Epic. We were credited $4 each. They arrived yesterday. Normal mail. Not happy about that. Falls Creek season entry was sent via registered post. Anyway a good time to do my first O/S trip. Doing a week at Whistler in February. Youngest son not happy to lose his 2 free days skiing Falls because of our conversion though.
I just got the email again. Asking for $240 for me to "Upgrade" not happening. Also if there are no more Seniors seasons passes it will be my last year on the lifts, might just be my last seasons camping out too, getting old and stiffer in all the wrong places
oh geez...if it got lost it cost less than the cost of postage to cancel and replace. Not knowing how the season pass entry is monitored I am guessing it is not electronically. So someone would get a free pass, and they would have to replace yours. So makes sense on a cost vs risk perspective.
Went across to Perisher Monday. - presented my Falls Creek Hero Pass RFID to the ticket office, got linked to the Epic ID - walked out 1 minute later and straight through the gate onto the lift no problem! Picked up my Epic pass today at FC ticket office- easy. Keeping my old FC RFID - still active.
Is it a [perisher] epic pas or Australian epic pass? Or the resort you by through, or the country region you buy it? The reason I ask is bring a mates. Can I (as someone who buys the epic pass via perisher) get bring a mates for Hotham or falls?
AFAIK Bring a mate is at the moment only current for Perisher, and is not an option at Falls or Hotham - I’m going to check with FC lifts.
that's my understanding too - only at Perisher. if you stay with hero you get the free day pass and free beginner day pass. If you upgrade you get nuthin at Falls/Hotham. weird but them's the breaks
just realised the Epic Passes I bought my adult daughters as birthday presents haven't turned up. Epic won't send them in the mail even though they sent mine and my wife's. Apparently my daughter's have to turn up at Falls with my credit card to collect their passes. What an organisation.
There is more information about the Falls Creek benefits now, and it looks to me like the epic pass now includes the free day that is on the hero pass. On this website have a look at the dropdown for the "Falls Creek Benefits": https://www.skifalls.com.au/lift-passes/epic-australia-pass
Yep that's new Transferable Hero Pass benefits: Free guest 1-Day Lift Pass, free guest Learn to Ski or Board Package and 20% discount on one Private Lesson. Available for adult 2019 Hero Pass holders who converted to an Epic Australia Pass.
interesting. they must have been surprised to see that it was an obstacle to people converting. thought it would be pretty obvious. trying to guess why they didn't offer it in the first place. I think most likely is just administrative difficulty of implementing just for ex hero pass holders.
So, a left-of-centre thought (which depends entirely on what offers and incentives are carried over to next year), but can you redeem your "Learn to Ski or Board" package on yourself? Say, like me, you have only ever snowboarded and wanted to have a crack at skiing, is it an option?
no harm in asking. If it's busy you may not learn a lot in one lesson. big class going at the pace of the slowest learner ... but if you have no other use for the ticket, you don't have anything to lose
Looks like they had a few “technical issues” with the epic pass. This morning ours didn’t allow us to get on the Falls Express chair and we had to have new cards issued to replace the ones that didn’t work.
So my current Epic Australia pass will work straight up on the lifts at Falls, with no need to call into the ticket office first? Edit: found it.
For the 2 of us left standing the 65+ Hero Pass doesn't include a free pass for a friend. Damn ageism
Not all smooth for us.....but close -Register to upgrade 5 x heroes on day dot, get the confirmation -2 weeks later get an email reminding me to upgrade with names of only 2 / 5. A bit odd. An email query is answered with 'call hotham'. I do. 'Its all good' you are registered -a week later, same email. I call again. Approve paying the difference. 'Its all good' -another automated email 'this is your last chance' . By this time ive spent $$ on perisher accom and an getting nervous, 3 days out. Call perisher. 'Its all good'. 'Pick up your epic at perisher' -get to perisher, go to ticket office, get 5 photos done, 5 passes issued. Hooray! -ski on to first lift. Mine works! Hooray -look back and mrs mr and oldest mr are called out of packed FV lift line....they were the 2 / 5 whose tix had the constant reminder about.... -'sorry but they cant ski on that pass'.....at this point im starting to really lose it....we were so keen and getting 5 of us there was some kind of miracle anyway -finally sorted after another half hour in lift office -a but unsure whats going to happen back at hotham / falls -seems i have a perisher epic....maybe we get the friend for free (at hotham?) So i would say check and double check and dont assume its all too easy
I couldn't recall paying the resort entry deposit so went to the online account and found that past purchases aren't listed. Emailed asking for confirmation. No reply. So it was necessary to pull up 6 months of my bank records in PDFs and searching. I had paid it in the event but recall being reluctant to do so as Falls doesn't tell you how much you'll save by paying early. It's a mistake to feed the accountants before feeding the customers.
Ps everyone i dealt with was very friendly and helpful.....it was just that it seemed like a complicated deal to execute, down at the card level. And yes, @Ziggy, agree
it's a challenge automating a once off event like the upgrade. the business pressure is not to spend too much on it because the payoff isn't there. exhaustive testing is not cheap. in any case, most people would rather they spent money on snow related stuff than one off computerised processes. this may or may not have been the thinking at Vail.
I think thats fair curra. And staff were helpful in the situation where the system is not and so id prefer it that way too
Hello We've only just realised that we can't use our Australian EPIC pass for the first 6 days of our holiday in Park City in December this year. The holiday blackout period is until 31st December and we get there on the 25th. I know we can get 50% off day tickets for that period but that would work out to a minimum of $1600 extra for the 3 of us which is more than I was hoping to pay! I've tried to contact Perisher to see how much the upgrade will cost to get rid of the holiday blackout - but I haven't got a response yet and I'm wondering if anyone here has upgraded and how much it cost them. Thanks is advance for any information......
Strange. I was told straight out I could not do that (ie that it was not allowable / possible to upgrade from EPIC Australia Plus to Full (US) EPIC.)
It’s not full us Epic, it removes the blackout days. Price differential was similar, I didn’t end up doing it as it was cheaper to buy a couple of half price tix for the days we were there over Xmas.
Definitely says you can upgrade to an Epic Australia Plus pass on this page https://www.epicaustraliapass.com.au/passes/epic-australia-pass-faq-2019
I think the intent was that the cost to upgrade from the Epic Australia Pass to the Epic Australia Plus Pass was essentially the same as the difference between the Epic Aus pass and the full Epic Pass, not to imply that you could go from Epic Aus to US Epic.
Thanks everyone - hopefully they will let me know the exact cost today. I think we might do like chicski and just get the odd half price ticket until the 31st Dec and maybe find other things to do instead of skiing (I can already hear my daughter telling me that there is nothing else worth doing!!)
For anyone interested - here's the response I got today: Thanks for the email. The cost to upgrade your pass at todays rate is $677 per adult and $449 for the student. I can confirm this will give you unlimited, unrestricted access to the US and Canada. Please note that this quote is for todays rate only so if you decide to upgrade at a later date the price may increase. If you confirm the upgrade it becomes a non-refundable component of your pass and is only covered if you have pass refund protection.
We found it extremely busy around then anyway. And my daughter and I suffered from some altitude sickness for a few days (Breckenridge) so we were taking it easy anyway. My eldest got an epic college pass which gave him better access than us!
Anyone understand whats happening w over 65 yo ? Is it an Epic Pass or nothing ? I only ski about 6 days on the lifts at Falls so the 4 day anytime pass was good.
