i will be back to Europe in 2012 now. Too epic to miss. One week in either Japan or usa/Canada and then two weeks in Europe. Epic

Nice, glad you enjoyed it even when there was a pretty decent snow drought.

Europe's not the be all end all, but if you're after the kind of experience it offers then you can have a really good time. Between North America, Japan & Europe you've got some pretty diverse offerings so once you know what you're after and where you can find it, life is good!
indeed. Looking like a week in whistler to tick that off my list. Few days in Vegas then Europe for three weeks snow and two weeks sight seeing. Venice is just epic! Will spend 4 nights there next time.

Time to post these again. Days are gradually getting longer - quite a change from December. Another 2 months to go.

A nice day coming while we potter around, have to pick up our skis from the shop that is mounting and tuning them, first day on snow and in new boots so we will just head to the Grands Montets and see what happens, then start with the guide tomorrow.

Last time we never got to GM in good weather so I will take the DSLR and hopefully get some good scenic shots.

Oh and I totally rate Etihad. It's hard to rave about Economy but everything was fine, nothing even remotely pissed us off, and one stop to Geneva then an hour in a van to Chamonix is great. It's still a mission, 26 hours door to door!

Good to hear Carve. We fly to Paris with them in 3 weeks. Are the seats all configured in sets of 2? Also, I'm interested in what the food is like. What do they dish up?

that is the other bad thing about emirates they are 3-4-3 so 10 across which means less seat width.

as for Venice again, the murano glass factory is epic! Very bad for the credit card though.

Have you considered Verbier, if you like big ski areas, part of the 4 Vallees

That's the configuration on an emirates 777. He was talking about an A340 which was 2-4-2. Emirates also do 2-4-2 on their A340's.

In all of the situations, both airlines have a 17 inch width for their economy seats.

epic snow in the haute maurienne region of france. it's been snowing for almost two days and although there's been very limited visibility up high, the rewards of perfect light dry powder are there to be found a bit lower in the gullies and forests .... and the good news is that snow has been forecast till at least wednesday with sunshine after that.

Okay clearly with my posting resuming I am home again.....

All I can say is Europe was sensational, I think I said that before actually!

Definitely back again in 2012, and trying to get a week in Japan or USA/Canada in beforehand, but that's a pain in the arse with flights, so looking like perhaps "just another Europe trip"

Will be spending more time in Singapore to thaw out on the way back, also revisiting London, Rome & Venice as we only had 3 nights in London & Rome and 2 in Venice and it was VERY rushed, but was good to get a feel for the city.

Last thought for now, I was VERY surprised about how cheaply we ate in most places, food is quite cheap I must say.

Trip report - WILL come, so Triple b, marko, main street and others! go away
