    Went skiing - wet. :cry_ubb:

Used whatever shelter we could get.

Highlight of the day was the fishpot in "RautjoxaVärdshus"

Yesterday Thursday we stayed localy in Duved and Tegefjäll.
In Mr. Bramwell's Wigwam one Australian and one Kiwi were handling the place. Their sense of hospitality was just great and we were a bit surprised to see people working here from those countries.

The weather was a lot better even though temperature are a pit high.

We stopped fairly early to reach the last skibus 16:30 to Åre for our candlelight dinner in Villa Tottebo.
I just love the atmosphere there - beside the good food.

Yes, one fells like on of the first skiers here back in time. We also visited the tiny museum at the topstation.
Many rich British Nobel had cottages in Norway on here in Åre as well - sailed to Tronheim in their yachts, but no idea how they got up to here.
The local called their cottages for Hunting castles.

Well - we did not stay in the igloo overnight, just had vaffel and free water.
They even have a outdoor hottube.

For those who like to dinne in Villa Tottebo it looks like this. In fact it was moved to her from a fjäll location - could have been one of those English nobel hunting houses.

Far away to the right of the top you see the hotel "Copperhill". Upper price range!

Waiting to go down to the train catching up yesterday and today both days with new snow and low temperatures.
Today even with nice powder in the early morning - but soon tracked out.
But very strong wind and up on fjäll some

paces no new snow other places 70 cm im flat area. In between some sun.

Most important in the middle of nowhere is to find the smallest hut - with no heating.

Lillåstugan is a nice place to turn in for vaffel and hot chocolate when the wind is hard.

Coresponding with Japan from Lillåstugan on our last day. (Also the day when I found I had not forgotten my shaver anyway - changed from northern barbarian to decent Dane within minutes).

Being out there where therr is nothing than fjäll.
    One skier gound the way.

Lift queues where not the biggest problem on Sunday - changeover day.:D

Neither was the crowded pistes below a problem for us.

Now on the train towards Stockholm and Malmö - over and out from our trip to Åre.
Samsung S4 mini survived once again.

    Duved station below as well.:(

buying beer in Sweden is interesting
it's available in supermarkets, but limited to 3.5%
if you want stronger or more variety, you have to go to the Systembolaget, a government-owned monopoly
in Stockholm there was one about a kilometre from my hotel, while it was a bus trip away in Åre
I got some Bavarian wheat beer there for less than the Sydney price

Yeah it's an interesting system with some great variety and good pricing due to policies.

Folköl is the supermarket stuff LOL

Well not really - (just 0.33 cl) otherwise we were satisfied with the 3.5% from the supermarket - however we had to drink a lot of it. o_O

Yeah I remember Norway prices - shocking.
In Austria a 500ml beer will normally be around 4.50 Euro in a bar or restaurant or 1 Euro in a supermarket.

Still truck loads of snow in Austria. Very warm though. Bulletproof in the morning softening in the afternoon with offpiste nice and creamy throughout the day. Here's a few snaps from Ski Amade'. Slopes were empty.

If skiing at Ski Amade, Austria, I highly recommend a couple of nights at this place. Not something tourists can easily find but due to local connections, we stayed on mountain with all you can eat and drink. The rooms are very good, the foods plentiful and the beers, wine, spirits or schnapps just keep coming. We had a big crew up there and had a ball. First on the slopes in the morning as well.

    THURSDAY 04 APRIL 2019

Day 2 sliding in the Brecon Beacons for winter 2018/19

Met up with Chris - his 14th day of the season - and we were pleasantly surprised to find top to bottom coverage and low wind.

Didn't see much to be fair ;)

Just caught up on the whole thread. Been eyeing off a 2 week trip in the Aosta Valley next year (exact location to be determined) and this thread has convinced me it's a good idea. Love Italy, has a strong minty vibe.

Still have a strong desire to go back to Hakuba again, but decided that as I now live in London I need to cut the cord and take my split board to Europe.

Italian coffee from last weekend, no snow but what a place!

Austrian Glacier resorts look set to get a nice freshen up. Also the last day of the season in Obergurgl today. Might be a very good one. Dream season after quite a reasonable one last year.

    SATURDAY 04 MAY 2019

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU

Day 4 sliding in the Brecon Beacons for winter 2018/19

An unexpected bonus for the 2018/19 Welsh Winter Season for Christian and me this morning.

Christian's 15th Beacons ski, my fourth on 'Star Wars Day' May the 4th!!!

We set off from Pont ar Daf at 4.30am to a snow free Central Beacons Massif but by the time we reached Bwlch Duwynt the heavens started to release their goodness and within an hour there was 2-5cm of snow settled and ready to be skied.

A couple of laps off Pen-y-Fan down towards the Neuadd reservoirs followed by a shot off the corner of Corn Du.

We managed to get a fair way back to the car park before the sun had melted it all away.

This was only the second time I've been able to ski in May in the two decades I've been skiing the Beacons.

    A rare treat.

On our return to Pont ar Daf we were met by 3 Imperial Stormtroopers from @team_SWG who are raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust (#teenagecancertrust).

They'll be back in the Beacons on Sunday 26 May 2019 at 10am to walk to the summit of Pen-y-Fan in full regalia.

    Well done boys.
