    Hey guys.

Does anyone know who supplies the carrot cake for the Eyre Cafe and Pretty Valley Kiosk. It is delicious.

Would like to order a tray or cake for my mothers birthday on way home if possible. As I am only here for a few more days.

Asked the owner at the Eyre cafe if he could kindly let me know who supplies the cake for them so I could order one to take back to sydney or if he could order me a tray if I paid upfront and I would pay the cost per slice. He was a bit rude and told me to worry about who supplies the beer and turned away which was a bit embaressing in the line waiting for my food.

Thankyou in advance. Theres only two cake places in jindy i know of that is sundance and tracies?.

    Thanks again.

Couldn’t tell you but you may have just picked a bad day to ask. Normally Eyre Cafe is pretty solid with good customer service.

Who supplies who in a small town can be sensitive issue.

That’s a bit harsh, have you actually been to Eyre Cafe? It’s a bit of a hike from the other place. A nice hike but still a hike.

and if he makes a point of embarrassing and ignoring customers, perhaps that hike will be too far for many in the future

It isn't a sensitive issue as most places here are supplied by the same place actually.

It is a supplier to cake shops and places all over Australia and so many here.

I am not a competitor. I am a 31 year old builder trying to buy a cake for his mum. I also offered him to buy the cake for me and I would pay Cafe price per slice and more if desired.

The nice lady in pretty valley kiosk told me Priestleys from Morninside QLD supply the cakes. Will order one from them. Will not be going back to eyre cafe and if I do. I won't be leaving my $5+ tips anymore.

You know I get it people have bad days but you do not treat someone like that after they give you a decent tip too and have a reasonable question and a return customer.

Steve has always been friendly to me. Perhaps because I don’t tip. Or ask about his secret recipes.

Eyre Cafe carrot cake has been to die for since at least 1988, when I first became an addict. Whether it's the same supplier, I don't know.

What secret recipe? He buys it frozen. Gets sent from QLD. He defrosts it and serves it I found that out later as pretty valley do the same thing. I offered to buy a whole tray or cake or if he can't sell me that what location I can purchase it from I did not ask for a recipe where did I say that?

A simple sorry I can not tell you because the supplier is a cafe secret or even "sorry we make it ourselves and do not sell bulk"

Did I also say he wasn't nice?. On this instance I just said he basically embaressed me infront of everyone and was rude about it instead of providing me a simple no sorry I can not disclose that as it is a secret which would be garnered a simple "no problem thankyou from me". I was polite and sincere when I asked him.

Anyway problems solved I have already ordered mine from Eyre Cafe and Pretty Valley Kiosk supplier Priestley from Morningside in QLD for my Mother as she could do with the nice cake as she loves carrot cake and she hasn't had the best run recently in all aspects of life.

I am happy that you always have a good experience the tip isn't to pay for good service the tip is customary in our culture good or bad experience regardless. You just don't go back to places you dont
't like the food which is not the case in eyre thingo.

Rules are changing though and eftpos will be mandatory in fast food as to many are dodging TAX.

Most of the stuff comes from places like PFD Foods and Bidvest , its frozen and straight out of a box that would typically have two or three slabs (layers) in a box . You just defrost what you need for a couple of days.
Just trying to remember the name of the main supplier that makes all the carrot cake ,banana cake and chocolate cakes etc for the food service industry , they also make a big variety of quiches and mini quiches for the food industry .
You wont find them Woolies or Coles , unless they trade under a different name.

Maybe no one can give him a useable internet connection for eftpos to reliably function?

It’s been pretty sketchy 3G up at Eyre until this year. This season is the 1st I’ve been able to upload pics at the Cafe.

It’s been a shit fit for years to have a usable bussiness Internet connection for a bussiness i deal with based back at Perisher central.

Not to mention the gouging cost charged by the banks for eftpos.

    Wow. First world problem guys.

    A lot of heresay here.

How about giving the cafe owner the benefit of the doubt, and let the whole issue go?

I dont know how a carrot cake question became a eftpos question. If its cash its cash. eftpos its eftpos. Until fiat paper currency is obselete it is your job to carry a few hundred bucks at all times... as many places are still cash only

I observe still a fair few take a ways , fish n chip , bakeries and others that are cash only. Mostly all food.
And they not challenged at all by nbn or connection issues.

There's a rfid gate not far away.. ..
Also a 4g Telstra eftpos would have no issues (they are faster than land-line now)

actually it's the business's job to understand and meet their market's needs. If they define their market as eft payers only then so be it.

yes my neighbour works for ATO. and said this will happen within next 10 years that a certain percentage must be EFT . If eftpos is unavailable due to rural conditions the parties will have to apply for exemptions to the ATO upon BAS lodgement. As a builder I am already I believe or very soon capped to $10 000.00 for works as cash payment. Plus the ato knows and can check easily how much stock is sold by all the deductions and deduct spoil and work it out.

Gone are the days of dodging tax. so be it.

I believe stamps are legal tender. Next season I'm only paying for my Eyre Burger in stamps. That'll show him why he should get eftpos!

A few years ago, select local governments were required by the ATO to provide a full year listing of all contractor payments, dates, amounts, ABN, bank account details, GST portion. With the message that from the next year it would be mandatory reporting across all councils. Didn't happen. Whether due to the reporting requirements being too onerous (they were, common software systems did not have standard reports in the prescribed format) or the ATO moved onto bigger things than the local painter and handyman.

Until cash ceases to be legal tender I doubt the ATO could direct anyone to accept payment by another means. Meanwhile, I'll continue to carry $20 in my pocket when I'm skiing, in case I feel the need for a snack. I don't actually carry a card skiing unless I am planning on paying for something big (like ski tuning). Turned up at Woolies before with my card in my jacket at home. It now remains in my wallet.

    lol

    1. that is a long way from your claim that cash will be dead.
    2. I wish the ATO the best of British enforcing that requirement.

    3. mmmm, you should know, it seems you are not sure.

    4. Very aware of that however - not much use to them if purchase invoices aren't deducted and stock is bought for cash........

    1. cash will be dead we will be cashless. Fiat currency will remain but only electronically in my lifetime eventually. Crypto currencies are a very in thing with my clients who pay me in bitcoin and dash there will be a big change of wealth soon.

    2.yeah going to be hard.

    3. Pretty sure I got a letter from the ATO stating this as my building business was highly cash payment in past but not anymore. Was mentioned many times on radio too in ADs

    4. Most take away purchase everything through the books to write off as much as possible.

And then they declare minimum as possible as profit then pay then by the time they pay everyone wages and and PAYG payroll. Theres nothing to pay Company tax on.

Who cares. I got my carrot cake
