Looks like there's a sprinkling of the white stuff on the ground around Summit according to the cams. Also looking pretty wet.

It's been very cold today in the valley. People who live on the hill seem pretty optimistic about natural and manmade snow over the next few nights.

Yep, the next three nights are forecast to reach -3 which should allow plenty of snowmaking. Day temps are still progged to be a bit high though. Still, better than nothing!

Is nice to finally have some white cam shots instead of green! Exciting stuff, can't wait to see accumulation come later this arvo/tomorrow.

Damn a lot can happen in 3 hours and 10 minutes can't it. Must be snowing pretty hard. Sucks how most of the cams are covered in ice though.

There is snow down low on the hills around Mt Beauty. The road the to Bright stillclosed. Driving around this morning it was very close to snowing in the valley. The rain was thick and when it hit the windscreen some of it splattered with semi solid bits. Still only 6C in the valley.

I wouldn't believe the weatherzone graph that shows no precipitation for the last 12 hours or so. Still been very wet in the valley.

WZ is showing daytime max of 0-2 on Wed-Sat and mins 0 or less. So might be a mix of rain and snow, with more luck up high. It's often a bit colder up top than the forecast.

    or from Jane's Weather

oops posted this in wrong thread....report from 25-6-14

was quite nice up at falls today. Arrived in time for the first lift as snow was still falling in the village. only towers and express running but they have done a great job of getting a decent solid base on the main runs fed by these lifts. Added bonus was the fresh stuff this morning and with only about 50 of us (mostly staff n locals) it was fresh tracks and powder pockets until i left at 1300 to do the school pick up.
Had to put chains on at the toll gate...felt more like late July/Aug with snow right down past Bogong village.
Visibility was good...as in you could see the lake from top of main street and not much wind.
Snow flakes turned a bit sleety by 1000 and the sun almost broke through at times....was quite a blissful, mellow morning boarding....looking forward to another great season.

Why isn't the Eagle scheduled for tomorrow? How are people supposed to get from the village to Scotts?

I will put some photos up tomorrow. The whole mountain is skiing great. Started the morning lapping the Y's then moved over to scotts for a few. Then summit at 1pm when it opened...was a little heavy by then but still good. Skied International, zipper, the slot all complete cover.

A great day..started gently with a couple of laps down to drovers. Moved across to towers as confidence built on the NTN. Was fairly busy on Scotty's and corkscrew gully leading up to lunch. The afternoon was spent around towers. It was quick and allowed for a bit of variation in trying to drive the NTN efficiently. About to shower and then hunt for a beer. Looking forward to a childfree night on mountain and then a day of snowplay with Mr 6 and ms 3 the S.O. & SIL 2 morrow.

Looking great out there today. Cloud in the valley will probably rise again and put villageside in the murk so my advice would be getting over to summit early.

yesterday was a great day. perfect blue sky conditions in the morning with a bit of low cloud coming through in the afternoom. Took a while for the snow to soften up on lake side but village runs and summit were fun and less crowds. did my first ever run through the maze area and had a blast.

    bit of youtube footage

Yesterday and today both fun but bloody cold. Snow fell most of the day yesterday and even with the crowds you could still find pockets of solitude....summit and castle in the arvo.
Today was damp and miserable to be honest, I gave up after lunch. Visibility was poor all over, with village runs been the best so lift ques up express were horrendous but that's expected this time of year. Also a lot of people been dicks and heard of some teenages been threatened by a 'grown up' on the lakeside poma lift.

Not sure why all the families froth on this time of year.....pull the kids out of school for a week if young enough or think about late September holidays....way more chilled, cheaper and just as much fun.

    Anyways

With 4 days free to myself I decided to pitch tent at my beauty holiday park and must say what a great set up they have....camp kitchen, lounge, spa. Will defenetly do this a few more times through the season when I get consecutive days free, saves that extra hours drive home.

Today was a beaut of a day. started with whiteout conditions but the snow was nice soft dry pow....had to stop half way down sundown because i didnt have a clue where i was or if i was even moving...proper tripy.
Sun came out and we then had the best bluebird conditions for a couple of hours before cloud and more snow appeared.
Day of the season by far!!
hardly any crowds as i think most were heading home or put off by the weather forecast.
highlights - sundown, darkside, south face and shadow ridge...very little traffic lots of fresh stuff.
Also explored a bit more of summit with runs down jigsaw, roller coaster and the y`s.

Saturday 12/07 was the best quality snow I've see at FC since the week long dump of 2000. The snow was deep, soft and dry. Excellent skiing all round
    [IMG]

Today was an absolute magical bluebird. Snow had a freeze overnight but wad still in great condition. No obstacles anywhere. It was a delight to be out in it today
