Ordered an All Resorts Pass via FC in April. Was hoping it might have arrived by now. Anyone else got theirs yet?

I called them today and was told they were sending them out next week. I mentioned this may be cutting it a little fine for opening weekend and was told if there was any issue, call them and they will arrange a temporary pass.

    Got a similar line yesterday.
Prior years were sent promptly, seems that they're a bit slow this year

Was told will be in post next week. They are emailing list of vehicle with all resorts to other resorts so you 'shouldn't have a problem if you do go this weekend.
No big inconvenience, but seems a little unprofessional.

I've never seen a toboggan run, I think they're more prone to sliding.

I see in todays Official snow report that village roads are "Full Ski-In/Ski-Out Groomed". Is that true?

I know that there is not enough snow, but what is the value of an Official Snow report if this sort of misinformation is included day after day? Doesnt anyone up there check the reports before they are published, or do they just not care?

Ventured up last Thursday for a couple of runs on the man made stuff, not worth the $80 they are asking but nice to stretch the legs and blow away the cobwebs if you have the season pass.

What are people's thoughts? Is it worth packing the car and heading up after nightshift Friday morning? The cams look rubbish and the forecast looks warmer and wetter everytime I look at it.

With "Full Ski-In/Ski-Out Groomed" on the village roads, you cant go wrong. Seriously, I would not bother, but if you are happy to ski Main Street, go for it. Forecast is for mostly fine weather. They may even get some snow making done. I am sure some people will be having quite a nice time there.

Main St was in great condition first thing this morning. With nice big patches of machine made fluff ungroomed to try and carve your name in. Wombats was pretty average with "variable conditions." Bit of a dusting in the village. Called it a day at 11.30 as the sun started to have an effect.

main st snow stayed in great nick while I was there on saturday (till about 2:30).
watch out for rocks tho, there were a few small ones scattered about inbetween the "slow" signs before the final decent to btm of the lift. Silly me managed to find these more then once. Agree wombats was fairly poor and definitely suffered throughout the day due to the sun.

Main St, Lwr Hwy 83, a small terrain park and Wombats open today. Everything in pretty good condition in the morning. Got approached twice in the carpark asking if there was actually any snow up there, it looked and felt warm. Glad we went.

Does anyone know what cm snow base Falls Creek needs to become ski in / ski out? ie. How much snow do the roads need to have on them before you can ski down them. Cheers.

not an easy correlation - it's got more to do with how recently it's snowed.

with a 20cm event i think it will be ski in ski out, but not for long. Even with a good cover on the slopes, the roads get churned up by vehicles and get a bit of sun and wear patches come through.

    Really appreciate that. Thanks.
I am going July 21-26 and initially was hoping for a 100cm base by then (because that is what i believe you need to have before all the ski slopes / lifts on the mountain are opened up). I think that ship has sailed, so now i am hoping for enough snow to make it ski in/out. So hopefully we get 20cm of so just before the 21st. Ta.

Plenty of years there is hardly anything at this stage and 70-100 by end July. It is unusual to have everything open by late July, but even more unusual not to have at least everything over the back open by then and skiing back to the village, even if you can't ski through the village.

Thanks currawong for the hope and positivity. One more question. How much fresh snow do you think you need to make a (small) snowman? With a 14day forecast of 5cm of snow and no major fronts expected soon after, i'm now thinking of the kids and what they can get out of it. Not sure if promising kids to show them snow for first time and then not be able to make a snowman is a good thing to do. Thanks in advance.

Very busy up here this morning. Still great cover on wombats and towers. Need the edges sharpened its sheet ice under that man made. Looks like the guns were on last night? Surprising given looked like an inversion happening

Don't get too frazzled just yet. This time in 2013 we had basically the same runs open with the exception of Drovers (which had opened about the equivalent of two days ago, the storm in 2013 didn't arrive til around the 7th of July deo. By mid July it was game on.

The snow has been great the last few days, and it's brilliant that it's holding so firm given the warmer weather.

I recall 2013 being quite poor, compared to 2012. (Based on my memories, not actual data:thumbs:)

2013 was a season of boom and bust.....snowfalls followed by rain and melt then repeat.

I remember skiing at Falls in the first week of the July hols in 2012 with everything but International open. I remember in 2013 I went to New Zealand instead as the snow was so poor!

I'm going up on Friday but planning on packing my hiking boots plus plenty of books and wine just in case the snow that's there melts before the weekend. Are lift tickets discounted with the limited terrain available?

if you are a local photographer you can probably make a snowman with a heavy frost :p

I am no snowman expert, not having kids and mostly avoiding looking after others' at the snow. once again, it's more about freshness than depth. half a metre of refrozen rain dampened snow is no good for a snowman. If you look for a drift with a bit of wind blown accumulation, you might be able to do something small with 5-10cm

Cut a few fun laps for a couple of hours with my little 'dude with attitude' again today. Snow holding in there and different each time we ski, soft piles of dust on a hard base today. Not having the progression of Drover's after Wombat's is obvious with many seen struggling (walking) down Main Street. Crowds really starting to pick up, but manageable....though judging by car parking resort not anywhere near full. Next week????

Note on the cams there's only a tiny amount of man-made on Ruined Castle. So the lift co. are concentrating snowmaking only on Wombats, Towers and Drovers ?
