Some much needed snow falling today. Was not the best day's skiing. Fresh snow very heavy and due to the SE wind not being 'normal' direction for snowfalls at Falls the drifting and loading was hard to predict....not being helped by less than ideal visibility. Still another day on snow, a few good turns enjoyed and the snow hopefully keeping the season going.

Heading back up tomorrow fresh snow is good news. Don't care about the quality just need to fill in some patches.

The snow report mentions Spring like conditions? Is that your take as well? Is it warm? Is the snow slushy? Any pics?

not spring corn / slush, wet "fresh" glue would be a better description. Starting to feel like it's cooling down now cloud has moved in and light crisper wind.

Mega light drizzle in gully car park. Feels like it will snow soon
Temp at 1.3 but dropping. Once the S moisture hits it will drop to below 0 in a few hours.
Atmosphere must be cold though as it was snowing above 0 this morning.

Slot, Cabbage patch and Skline were good for fresh tracks, soon after the heavy dusting of snow in the am. The rest of the north side was mostly rubbish, and by about 11am I moved over back. Anything that was facing S to SE'ly was very pleasant.

Pick of the day was Scott's and Lakeside.

A fantastic day of skiing today. Firm and fast early but softened enough quite quickly for the off piste to be great. Good skiing could be found on all aspects of the mountain. Weather and visibility were great.
:tany: couldn't get up there today but it looked like great

Yep today was full of surprises. After watching the cams and reading the weather thread for 5 days I didn't expect such perfect conditions. Some obvious damage down low due to the rain and I felt my heart sink riding up FX after 5 days away but the otherside is holding up really well with RC my pick of the day.

Not as busy as i feared. Pretty solid early, a bit dust on crust, but quite skiable. Some very nice off-piste if you were prepared to work for it. Stayed remarkably good despite the sun - softened but not slush.

Great day yesterday and not so shabby today either. Sad to see that the level of snow has dropped a bit. Still great cover though except down lower.

Went for a nice hike out today. Beautiful snow out back.

I was hoping to see some footage from the recent competitions, especially the Night Rambler comp. Is there any reason that it is hard to find?

You have cause for a tanty. I'm bleeding apoplectic
Got two weeks out of the Hero and All Resorts Entry passes.
At least I didn't shell out for a move to NTN.
Sigh. What am I doing reading these forums.

I was very happy with the skiing on Saturday, great cover and not overly crowded, had a lot of fun until about 3pm when I went down Wishing well and found the lower section chopped up to buggery. Unfortunately I fell and tore my calf muscle badly. So that's it for 2015, very short season for me I only got to ski two days on my 6 day pass as I was OS most of August.

Have fun everyone and stay safe.

Ow ASB, thats sad news. Wishing you a speeding recovery.

Yes, today was super. Took it pretty easy after yesterdays hike. Did a few runs down Scotts and Ruined Arsehole then went down the Y's, a run down International and then stupidly did The Maze. Top was nice but the bottom of Roller Coaster or Black and Blue (no idea which one we ended up in) was goorrrnnneeee. Skiers had to take skis off but we managed to find the smallest strip to get around. Yuck. We ended the day with a run through our secret stash which was untouched and made our way to Elk where we are staying tonight and tomorrow.

Goggle tan is in full swing.

Super day of spring skiing yesterday across both sides of the hill. By that I mean, put some thought as to where you ski and when and every run is fantastic. FCRM yesterday described it as a morning of 'icy groomers'.....I'm call bulls@*t, learn to ski. Tired of what seems to have become a 'two speed' description of snow - it's either powder or ice. People need to work on their technique so that they can ski all conditions and enjoy it.

We took yesterday to actually work on our technique down Ruined. We tend to stay away from there normally but it was really nice snow and so we were working on sharpening up our turns.

Then this happened...

And another day ripping on the NTN gear @Ziggy. ;)

Staying on the mountain this week and after 3 bluebird days today feels like winter again. About 5-10 cm on the road outside cedarwood this morning. Lots more in catchments over the back. The bowl is on wind hold and Scotty is on snail pace with 40kmh southerly winds but its so worth it. Hardly anyone around and cloud seems to be lifting....I have just popped back for the hip flask and will get back amongst it.

Ruined castle and the summit opened after lunch so we had a full day of riding freshies. Darkside to sundown provided a full morning of clean lines then we moved out to big D and southface.
Roads in the village have been cleared so it looks like the end of over snow for the year.
Cover on sun valley is excellent, better than this time last year so plenty of days left in the season.

We are up again Saturday and Sunday. The next two weekends are out for us :( Hopefully there is still something hanging around after that.

Had a fabulous week on the snow. Started with a night in mount beauty then up to cedarwood until yesterday. Monday was a reintroduction to skiing for a Swiss friend after a 12 year hiatus...... Of course she made it look effort less and the rest of the week was a catch up with friends down from Sydney. Weather was perfect, even had a bit of fresh and with most of the resort still skiing well it was smiles all round.

A lovely day.
Again empty, not waited in a lift line over the 2 day period.
Spring slush all around which was fun, going captain risky without fear of hitting the rough.

And skiing Falls with side cut skis was a lot more fun than 20 years ago I went there.
Its like Carve Town
Wide open runs and steep enough to rip it on the edges pretty much everywhere on the lakeside and summit bowl.
There was 3 of us skiing in group so it was racing all day, last one to the lift is a rotten egg, much GoPro done.

Maze area roped off this time but planning to do another trip earlier in the season next year when the snows drier and it has full cover.
Stayed at a place on a property just out of Mt Booty Wed night, dined at stock pot, great food.
Road up is good, and fun.

I think I need to delete this post. Too many people are working out what a great place Falls is. ;)

Hope you weren't pulling into the queue race at 100miles an hour like a dumbo @DbSki

No speeding in the lift race, self preservation kicks in around lifts.

But we did get chided by the manager at frying pan for desecrating his signage.
We pulled up and parked skis and my mate decided to lay his skis down on the back of a sign that had fallen over for reasons that escape me.
I said WTF are you doing.

Next thing the manager stands up and hollers "Dont put your skis on our signs mate"
He was sitting out the front with his chums chugging jars of beer.
Didnt look like a sign to us laying face down with a hole stomped in it.
He starts on about how its fallen over and picks it up and makes some feeble attempt to stand it back up.

Id suggest instead of sitting around out the front of his business chugging beers with his pals and talking loudly about things I dont think anyone nearby wants to hear about, he should get of his rear end and get some stakes to belt into the ground to fit the signs to so they dont fall over and get stomped on or descrated by laying down of skis.

It's not just that they look like crap falling over and they present a risk to public safety if someone trips on fallen signs, its also that the signs demarcate the boundary between a licensed area for alcohol and the public place in which consuming alcohol is illegal, and if he doesnt have barriers properly erected he would be outside of the terms of his alcohol licence and could get hit with fines in the thens of thousands of dollars range and or loose his licence for the outside area.

Anyway, I asked around about food and some suggested "Gebis" was the place to go and not frying pan.

We did the full tour each day of the place in search of good lines and I got many pics so Ill post a few.

Well techically the black area called the Maze was closed.
And unfortunate for FC is that Black runs seems to face Nth so they are mostly grass now.
