was even better when there were 3 beginner pomas in the bowl. (I concede that dogpatch had to go to reduce mixing beginners and faster traffic on bottom of summit).
When the carpet went in, skiing/boarding was still allowed there. Even with the tube, skiing was allowed on the other side of the carpet. Taking this beginner option out of the bowl is one of FCSL's stupider moves

Looks like there will be a race there. The fence is to keep non competitors off the course.

It's a diffetent setup to what I've usually seen. In any case, take extra care if skiing on this lift as some of the racers can be rather inconsiderate (ie dangerous) when skiing the runs near the racetrack while waiting for their turn

BC was very pretty today with a mix of snow and quite a lot of soft crust with sparkling sugar. Champagne air.

Piste this arvo was great - dry and firm.

NVS. BB was rock hard ice off piste midweek. Good cover and good fun where groomed but can't wait to get back to FC. Enjoy.

Falls app says”internet problems” at Howmans Gap gate entry

Not sure if there would be a worse time to have a problem with all the people arriving

    Hopefully it is resolved soon

I found an untouched stash of powder up by rapunzel today. It was only enough for one turn but it was the principle of the thing.

Don't bother looking I made sure it was thoroughly tracked out.

Only one lane open when I waited in the queue for 20 mins until safe to go up Season Pass lane. Not sure if the "internet problems" compounded their failure to have staffed both lanes on a peak season Saturday morning, was a cause of having failed to staff the second lane or a convenient excuse.
Failure to send down staff to manage traffic and alleviate the problem to some extent is an issue.

A thin cover is just starting to form. Temp is 1c, wind blowing in but doesn't look too bad. Heading out BC for some hours. Wombats still looking busy from Windy Cnr but carpark half empty now Vic school hols have ended, with SA still on hols.

IIRC at one stage they got a GS course homologated from summit down inter. They thought that it would bring more international squads to train here. (The Austrian team, juniors maybe, did indeed train there one year). They couldn't get the homologation with the lift there.

Lift co would have been happy to have 1 less lift anyway. In the time that I have been skiing at falls we have lost
    Village
Big Dipper (arguably covered by ruined castle chair)
    Headwater
    Link
    Dog Patch

My involvement has always been in XC and resort telemark but the times I bought lift tickets for the kids it was great to sit and watch them play in the village bowl or to let them loose in Headwater.

I was sad to see Headwater closed, it was a great area for skiers or boarders to transition from the beginner runs to more advanced terrain.

It was a really nice little adventure to take people over there on a nice day. Some nice safe schussing to get there, uncrowded slope with some interesting variation.

and an alternative way back to the village from ruined castle without the need to climb

    Real pity it's gone

Windy Cnr at the moment ... cold wind, -1 C, medium vis, some fresh. Trying to muster the enthusiasm to put the skinny skis on.

    Delayed start to Ruined lift.

    For the XCers at Falls

apparently there is an app that lets you see a GPS track of where the groomer has been. It costs ($15 pa I think ).

Snow held up well today after last nights reset, the maze was the obvious area of choice all morning, endless fresh tracks, could always be found. Though even after lunch played around summit on most of the runs and even though obviously chopped up the snow was keeping well still soft and not overly slow at all, one of the better days this season at falls, so far ........

Hero snow on piste this morning while some side-country slopes were just sensational - soft and consistent.

This was great advice. Our 6 year olds loved this run and riding the poma at the start of the week. Shuttle operation was unpredictable though so we ended up on drovers a fair bit - didn't matter us too much as the kids progressed pretty quickly but for others the unpredictability would be disappointing maybe it was just because last week was pretty quiet.

The unreliability of the eagle shuttle has been dreadful. I suppose it's still a bit better than nothing but it has to be reliable to really be useful.
AFAICT the main issue is that it can't handle the range of snow conditions. There might be other issues but that's one of them

Does it not like the boiler plate that we had mid-week?

It also doesn't actually stop at monkey bar either which might be helpful for learners when visibilityis poor.

Good snow quality, shite visibility today. No Eagle again. Hope for improvements tomorrow.
It was about half an hour after I took this photo that I realised I must have dropped my credit card. Cancelled before some young punk found it and loaded up at The Frying Pan.
Thought I was due some good karma after helping a dude fit his chains this morning but it wasn't to be.
