Les Chalets is in a great location - easy for kids. Agree with FCCC comments too.

Starting to get a little excited/worried. Fingers crossed conditions improve, or at least don't get any less.
I'm living by the motto, any day in snow is still better than a good day at work.
Kids and +1 are very excited so that's the main thing.

Even with only Drovers, Highway, Mainstreet and Numbnuts Scramble open there's a fair amount of skiing to be had.

Lift queues on FX were a wee bit long this morning pre-lesson time but the crowd thinned out onto drovers.

Towers got busy after 10.30 and dropped off until mid-arvo.

Village shuttle has been run ragged so if you have to get across the village from the bowl to FX expect to wait.

Rather than start another "annual where should I stay at Falls Creek" thread I thought I'd just reprise this one...

We're after family friendly lodge accom for Mrs Chopps, Little Chopps and myself. Little Chopps is only gonna be 18mths so very family friendly is the key.

Looked at Chorki but they can't accommodate our booking. Any other suggestions?

Was thinking Nelse perhaps but their website seems to have disappeared and I can't find any updated info for them. Anyone know what's happened to them?

    Recommendations appreciated.

I would look at Trackers or Falls Creek Motel.....both include meals (a holiday from cooking), are popular with families, I think both offer early kids dinner with babysitting service and I think that depending on how long you are staying for that being higher in the village has its advantages.

How odd, works on my computer and on my phone. Sorry, I have no idea why, does it have anything to do with the browser you use....I use Chrome. (my computer knowledge is limited, so can't think of any other reason)

It's basic but we didn't mind it. Only stayed just us two though. The upstairs area that is the communal kitchen is also used by staff and there is staff quarters too, so upstairs is a bit messy. We didn't care.

There are apartments there though. Not sure what those are like but I think they are pretty pricey. Good luck. I'm not too much of a help as we stay off mountain usually.

If you do stay somewhere, I can absolutely recommend the food at Elk. Last year it was awesome and child friendly.

If you have an 18 month old simple decency to the rest of the world says self contained accommodation. Remember back 5 years, and how pissed off you would have been if someone decided that you, on your holiday, should adapt to their howling, shitting packet of irrationality. People in public areas of lodges should not have to adapt to really small kids unless that was very specifically, and upfront, part of the deal. You should be prepared, at a moment's notice, to retreat to your private corner of your accommodation however small. If you are self contained that private corner is much bigger and everyone - you, your partner and your bub - will be much more relaxed.

I'm allergic to small children but over the easter there was a 14 month old child in our lodge and I never heard a peep out of her. Partly she was very good anyway and partly her dad and grand parents managed to her very well and took her away from public areas at the first sign that she was unsettled. Absolutely no problem with her being in our lodge.

Quite, but that has to be part of the deal.

When mine was that size we filled our club lodge with friends with kids of similar ages. It was a lovely time for everyone, but all of us knew exactly what was coming.

In commercial accommodation ... Not so squeezy. If you have any social decency you will be on tenterhooks and self contained is less stressful.

Use oversnow to get wife, baby and luggage up to alpha. Then walk, or gully chair (if running) plus stairs to get yourself up there if you don't want to pay for yourself

As much as you can, try to use large (but not impossible to carry) bags rather than a whole heap of smaller bags. Makes the carting and moving of 'stuff' soooo much easier. Also, when we left our lodge last year, one of the local gave us a few extra large plastic bags (wheelie bin liners I think) to wrap our gear in. Made a huge difference getting it to the car in the rain.

Might not need the transport. If there's no snow on the village roads guests can get a 30 minute pass (from a parking attendant) to drive in the village for the purpose of dropping off luggage.
