Tomorrow they will have the troops out stopping everybody and making them fit chains. On the way down it is "up to the driver's judgement" which IMO is the loophole in the whole system.

Yeah definitely noticed a lack of clearing in lower slalom today, ‘stretched’ is an understatement

Crap. Why is it closed? Snowed under or tree damage?

Today's d#@khead observation summed the ridiculous situation currently at Falls.....I was driving down behind the snow clearing truck with an Xsomething BMW between me and the clearer. Said d#@khead decided to overtake the snow clearer before a bend....uphill car coming around the bend, snow clearer had to suddenly brake to let d#@khead back in front of him.
Two points, chains on 4WDs does not eliminate stupid and ironically the d#@khead in the BMW was likely to have been lauded with VIP priority parking by RMB

Reporting 20cm in 24 hrs, much of which fell during yesterday and less than anticipated, but still fitting chains to ALL VEHICLES as decided yesterday afternoon.

Interesting. The app is saying chains on 2WD. I guess I'll see when I get there.

    Edit: Snap!

    Cluster****.

Chains on AWD's at Fainter Falls.

But Audi Q5's and Porsche Cayennes going through without being stopped to chain up.

    WTF?

Our Kia with the centre diff in the locked position is probably a better AWD than either of those poser vehicles

As is my Outback with viscous coupling centre diff.

Then I had some young dudez in an old Forester without chains all over my arse, including trying to overtake me on blind bends and when I had to veer over the centre line to avoid someone stopped to tighten their chains by the roadside. I let them go past at the Overtaking Lanes, but not without the sincere hope that I'd see them hanging over the side of the road before getting to the top.

Parking is pretty much full now BTW. Windy Corner is full, and I got what looks to be the last spot in Gully. Cars are being parked on the road now.

Oops, just went past a Forester into the wall. Must have been going down without chains on, hit the right hand wall and decided to put chains back on.

Beautiful day today. Lots of fresh fluffy snow and blue skies. Lots of people about.
I really noticed the lack of anything in my legs from being out of action since November. I need to get back into training! The fitness is non existent too

Got a bit overcast later on.

there wasn't much glamorous about Eric for last years of his life. very sad.
as he quoted to me once, "nobody loves you when you're down and out". it wasn't self pity, more an acknowledgement of the bed he had made for himself.

The 60 k restriction on the road up above Clover Dam apparently is due to works responding to a rock collapse in the hydro tunnel. They're drilling around it.

I wondered how long she would stay. not surprising after a takeover really, no matter how well the head honcho has been performing.
does this mean she is heading your way?

No just heard from an industry contact.

And yes these things happen after takeovers etc. I don’t know the reason why at all, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was some sort of consolidation,

If I was Vail I’d run the ski lifts for Hotham-Falls jointly, rationalise the back end into a single entity, rationalise some of the joint management functions and bank the cost savings from economies of scale and reduced management overhead...

Hearing a bit more, it sounds like that Perisher will be the Vail mothership so to speak, with Hotham / Falls reporting in that direction.

    Makes sense.

From what I see that should benefit Falls-Hotham....Falltham...

Consolidated service contracts, ski school, lifties, catering, logistics, bookings, client services, engineering, snowmaking, financials...

Any consultant would be talking about driving synergies to the bottom line and a 30%+ savings on overhead... and head-count...
