Lift pass. Though I have both.

However, if you have a FC account due to having bought a lift pass in the past you’re likely to have an account linked to yr email address.

    I'm just a cynic.
I haven't received anything about the survey but IIRC in the past there have been prizes of resort entry season passes. Of course this may have changed.
I'd read the fine print to be sure

On a different topic, last week three times I saw skiers in the Towers queue take the initiative to form a four :emoji_clap:

Resorts board also does a separate survey of season resort pass holders with goodies as an incentive.

There's survey fatigue among punters with low response rates and so poor reliability as a consequence. It doesn't help when questionnaires are poorly constructed and untrialled so it's a struggle to do them honestly (like this one).

When I last bought a new vehicle the importer paid $50 to get feedback.

My understanding is that the developmnent has to include new, bigger ATS terminal and staff accommodation

    From an email yesterday:

For those in or visiting the resort you will see advertisements advising of the proposed land release and redevelopment of the Accommodation Transfer Station and surrounding lands. This is a very exciting development designed to dramatically improved the arrivals and departures experience at Falls Creek, combining a contemporary terminal facility with accommodation options for seasonal and full-time staff also being addressed and the potential for community facilities to be developed to.

Planned stakeholder engagement forums will be held at the end of August designed to get community and stakeholder input into desired outcomes, prior to the finalisation of the expression of interest phase. This will facilitate incorporating the consideration of all resort users, community members and stakeholders into the final information memorandum. We look forward to seeing you there.

Parents with kids on the slopes
Yes I've been there, it's hard work.
The lateral thinking of the day was found in the parent with reins on his toddler cruising down Wombats. Toddler was leading. Great idea. We all know if we've ridden a horse that the rein is attached to a lump of steel that can be made uncomfortable for the horse but we fool ourselves if we think doing this thing together still isn't a negotiation. As it always is with kids.
To the parents out there issuing a stream of instructions to their progeny, think about this: instructions are like currency, the more you put in circulation the less value each unit has. So the more you say the less cut-through you get. And hey, aren't you up there to have fun together?
If you're not both having fun then do something different cos you're paying through the nose not to enjoy yourselves.

I’ve been looking around the Net to try and find a FC trail map that has ALL the runs listed. Some of the smaller ones - like Corkscrew for instance aren’t. I’m assuming that I’m looking for something that doesn’t exist.

Wikiski currently references the FC website: https://www.fallscreek.com.au/Maps and also references some of the older maps, put up, I suspect by @Bogong .

I expect that some of the more accessible out of bounds runs, such as the areas adjacent to South Face Run off Ruined Castle and where the old lift down from Summit was also have some ‘standard’ informal names.

2 interesting questions - of course one has some vested interest in leaving these stashes unnamed, and on the other hand, there’s some virtue in naming some of them. - For instance, where exactly is the legendary Ziggy’s Run? @Ziggy

why would we want to make it any easier for people to find them?

if we did we would have to answer to the little chick with the big gun

Yep. I take people to some of the slopes I like to ski but don't post about them.
They're not hard to find for anyone with touring experience and it's the same earn-your-turns ethos ;)

I share the consensus on not naming out of bounds runs.

Updated inbounds map of named, known and well-skied but unmapped runs?

Corkscrew gully is clearly marked on the map posted above, just below Monkey Bar poma. As for Ziggy's run, which one?

It's a stagger starting at the top of the hill at Fryers, a bee line to Falls Creek Hotel, then Cedarwood, a quickie at Summit Ridge, roll down the hill to Astra, slide into Silverski, grab an sky at Elk, mosey into The Man, walk to Winterhave and fall absolutely Brahms & Liszt into the Falls Creek Country Club.

Bend the knee, face-plant, imbibe, faceplant, bend the knee, drown your sorrows.... time to lock down that heel...

But seriously, every time I ski with my tech bindings locked in tour mode and the heel free, or clip out to flip those Dynafiddle heels to downhill mode or ski mode, and then struggle to clip back in I think to myself, surely it’s not THAT difficult to learn to telemark....

I probably shouldn't suggest this as a XC/BC skier, but has anyone ever looked to the right of Wombats dowo the Nordic bowl and thought it would provide some nice alpine / Tele skiing with perhaps 200m + vertical down to Rocky Valley Creek.

Of course without some decent skier bridges, it would be a very poor outcome for XC skiers in the bowl.

...Perhaps, forget I mentioned it. "It's a silly idea" (this Camelot) ...said the python crew! (;-)

Trees and the road spoil the promise of the map (and the aqueduct to some extent).
The first pitch is short but sweet with the right cover.
Wrinkle is negotiating the road cutting which is short but steep and the trees before it. And then you're on the road. You can walk up it to access the top of Little Canada or punt down it and around towards Nordic bowl. You can ski Little Canada down to the road when the cover is OK. Then you go around to one of the aqueduct crossings to get to the bowl.
So all up you're really earning these turns.

    Edited.

To add ... there's a track that leaves the bottom of the Nordic bowl and runs down and along to the creek. It's a pleasant shout tour option and opens up some more short slopes.

When is everyone pulling the trigger on the Hero Pass?

As said in another thread, I wish they’d bring back the multiple half price tickets for friends rather than one full day ticket.

I think Hotham are saying they have a limited number of hero passes. Also i think the due date is mid sept rather than early oct as usual.
Will be interesting if falls say any different, especially since is really the same product

With the 2019 Hero Pass now available I wonder if people bother with the pass protection? Interested to know if anyone reads the pass protection terms and conditions and whether they have changed.

pretty much the same. I had a quick glance but not that thorough. if you don't take out the protection I think that they are not very helpful if you can't ski after all. If you take it out then they are very helpful, beyond what they are required to do under the Ts and Cs.
