30 post-count or 30 days membership required to place an offer -- or -- Just $3.30** for a
Quick Unlock to jump the queue*.

The public and members may view, and reply to threads just the same as any other - however, to place an offer by creating a new thread requires a minimum 30 post-count by existing registered members - or - 30 days since commencement of membership registration.

For those who's post-count is already greater than 30 or have been registered for longer than 30 days, access to this Gear Swap forum is automatic.

Why 30 posts?
Trading between members is best when there is a bit of trust and history. If you have contributed at least 50 posts then everyone has had a chance to get to know you a little better. This 50 post hurdle also does a great job of keeping the spammers and scammers away.

Why 30 days?
Some people don't post very often and we have members that have been here for several years who still aren't up to 30 posts! Access to Gear Swap is automatic after 30 days of membership.

Still no access?
If you meet the requirements yet still have no access then Start a Private Message with Richard or IanD and we will sort access for you.

*But I just want to sell something ... then 'Jump the Queue'
OK so you are new here and you just want to sell an item. You have no forum history so no trust within the community has been established. However, because spammers and scammers never pay, you can "buy" that trust for just $3.30** with a First Unlock upgrade to jump the queue - details and purchase can be found here:

Image Uploads
Image uploads are available to all registered members and this includes the Gear Swap forum.

**Once-only payment, no recurring fees.

Suggestion:

Remind people less familiar with the forums that a good way to contact sellers with personal information is to use Personal Messages.
  • Click on their name at the left of their post
  • Click on Start a Private Message
  • Write your note, including a subject, and submit it.

This is a great idea Richard. Got lots of high quality, but out of date, gear laying around. A real recycling opportunity. Plus opens up skiing to some who cannot afford the new stuff.

Yeah I think it's going to be a great resource. Cheap gear for people starting out and it also facilitates upgrade-itis for people who want/need/must have the latest stuff knowing they can get a few bucks for their used gear.

I will put a bunch of stuff up when I get back from Europe. Stuff that I would have just let rot but if I can get $20 or $50 or whatever and it helps someone out then it's a win.

I'm only going to put a price to stop the public picking it up for free and reselling elsewhere. So yeah $20 - $50 will be where I'm at too.

Thanks CarveMan Its fine for full members as you don't have to pay $3.3....
Im already paying to advertise on ebay where they are most likely to sell, why would I want to pay to put on a forum.
Disappointing!

Actually you have passed the 1 month requirement anyway so it doesn't apply. Thanks for raising this as it flagged you hadn't been promoted. I have manually promoted you and hopefully fixed it for others so that in 1 month of membership they automatically get promoted here.

So you can now post for free.

I couldn't agree more! I have been on other selling sites but it doesn't have the essence that this one does...good work

Hi Richard I have been a member for number of years but it says I don't have privileges to post here. I haven't posted an ad for a while. Can you sort out my access?

I had to reset my password and maybe that's reset my membership date?
Mal
Password reset has no effect on joining date.

Your member number is with you for life, it cannot be changed. Yours is 65046 and falls between 65045 and 65047 who also registered on the same day as you - July 14 this year.

So in this user setup you have been around for 2 weeks. Do you have an old username that you used previously?

FWIW I've had much better luck selling old skis here than eBay.
I've sold 3 pairs of skis on eBay: x2 good experience, x1 terrible experience. Not to mention the cost of advertising. Would put much more faith in selling on here, in a community I trust. In fact, have a new pair of skins I need to sell! :)

You can read and look and buy with no posts. The ability to sell something here however requires 30 posts as per this thread.

Was that a Reply for me Richard ? I've paid the $11 upgrade last week mate
Tim

Looks like it was to tag Richard to get his attention. He's prolly busy out looking for a winery to buy to compliment the forums business. Tagging him will cause the "forumbot" to release the messenger pigeon which will find him staggering around in some wine cellal and deliver your message.

:)

There is a very large coop full of pigeons back at ski.com.au HQ, specially for this reason

thanks guys,

been busy doing some housekeeping on homepage and not in here,

@Tim Colquhoun You should have received a confirmation email from PayPal direct - would be curious to know whether that did or did not arrive.

thanks
