One runner only. Weird? Who walks off with one shoe? Perhaps the information is wrong. Certainly not a hiker but next the media will be complaining about him not having a PLB.

Early reports and was a bit sus of it. I saw one article with a comment after that the dog would at least have something to eat. That is just as weird.

This does not seem like an ordinary case of bushwalker having difficulty - possibly much more going on here, but very difficult to speculate, and far more important to bring the guy home and figure out the why later. (Except, of course, if the "why" helps understand where he might have gone.)

On the TV news last night they implied that he may have had an emotional condition or was intellectually handicapped, or similar. They said he just jumped out of the car with little or no warning and headed off down the hill.

So it looks like a father sharing a few days in the bush with his troubled kid who then wigged out, rather than anything more sinister.

I'm trying to work out where the location is, despite the newspaper headline, the site they showed on TV isn't remotely alpine or even sub-alpine. I suspect it's around the site of the Bandicoot Arms Hotel or the Grant area? If it is, there are lots of open mine shafts around there.

Hoping the best for him. I understand he has his dog also with him which could be a good thing.
Whatever happened to the Indian chap who walked out/went missing in Marysville area a week or so ago?

Awful news about the poor Indian chap Teckel. So many troubled folks out there!

...Slight bump: do you know if the occupants of the RAV4 eventually arrived safely last week?
Fwiw: We we were parked next to their ice covered vehicle on Sunday 14th. Sounded like quite a few people were out searching the trails on Saturday night in bad weather. There were no signs of their return at ~ 4pm as we left the car park.

Perhaps they simply failed to lodge an intention form? Not all people are into such things.
Was strange, there was nothing in the media about this incident - all seemed focused on the chap missing from Marysville (below the snow).

Looks like LM and the various ski trail heads need to beef up their intention form facilities and awareness.

So what’s happened to Rocky?Has he been taken in to custody or is he still out roaming Dargo?

Brother of young man found dead in high country was killed in 2016 crash

The parents of a 23-year-old man whose body was found in Victoria's high country six days after he disappeared are coping with a second family tragedy.

Jeremy Boyden's death comes less than three years after his only sibling, his elder brother Chris, died in a tragic motorcycle crash on Melbourne's West Gate Bridge in November 2016.

Their "distraught" mother, Jenny, told The Age on Thursday she wanted to get the message out encouraging young men to seek and accept help when they need it.

She is going through what no parent should go through for a second time, the untimely death of a son.

Jeremy, from Ferntree Gully, disappeared last Friday after travelling to the Wongungarra area of Dargo with his father for a day of bushwalking and gold prospecting.

He is believed to have suddenly left their car on the Dargo High Plains Road and headed down a steep embankment with his pet dog Rocky. The Jack Russell terrier was found alive on Wednesday.

The search took a turn on Thursday when rescuers found Jeremy's body about 8am near Upper Dargo Road.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Authorities have not said how far away his body was from the point where he disappeared. Neither is it known when he may have died.

Victoria Police only announced they had found Rocky alive on Thursday morning, about 90 minutes after finding Jeremy's body, which was announced in the early afternoon.

    So sounds like a suicide.

The search for missing man Jeremy Boyden has sadly come to an end after police located a deceased male this morning.

The man was located about 8am near Upper Dargo Road.

Jeremy went missing in the Wongungarra area on Friday 19 July and police along with SES, Parks Victoria, Bush Search and Rescue and the local community conducted a search of the Dargo area.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.

Hypothermia can set in fast if you are poorly dressed and get even a little wet. Tragedy aside I don't think either of these are much to do with us, the feller in Tassie tho? That could happen to any of us.

Spent Friday night at Michell Refuge with three guys from Police Search and Rescue. They'd just come over from the Dargo search. Apparently the key was finding the dog, when they found Rocky the second time they followed the dog and it lead them straight to Jeremy. His body was only 400 or 500 m from the road . There were no suspicious circumstances*... Dog had stayed with him for the whole time. Very sad.
*as much as i hate the euphemism. The precise details are probably TMI.
    Regards majikthise..

In the media they mentioned that his older brother died a few years ago. It would be a tremendous blow to the parents.
