Luckily only a light 11 k breeze.
31C, 23% humidity.
Lotsa crews on it atm.
Was going to tag you in a post. Plenty of both services in attendance and more incoming. Helitack should be about 20mins. Burning uphill away from properties.
Yeah, we can check it out from the clinic’s rear window.
Seems to be a lot bigger now and also quite visible flames compared to 30 minutes ago.
5ha estimate. Informed guess that they will allow it to burn to trails in the area. They've established local comms channels so won't hear much from down here in the city now.
HT275 which from memory is a Bell 412 or similar on the way
Meanwhile in Vic, DELWP has found 5 campfires in the Grampians where it's a TFB
Avoidable drownings, family catastrophes, campfires on a total fire ban day, renegade drones in fire zones, needless road deaths - welcome to summer holidays. No wonder the nanny state has so much leeway...
@VSG gets another one
First TFB for whole of Vicco comming tomorrow Friday..
Bit of drama in the Gong!
More worried about Tassie. That tanker fire will be a big job but quite contained
Funny Uber just sent me a warning re.
Stating there are bush fires.
Doesn't sound too bad, yet. http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colCurrentBushfires
Only Watch & Act for Gell River fire in SW.
That pic could be showing smoke from the Sth Bruny fire which is controlled.
Vic looking OK so far. Smallish fire in far east Gippsland, north of Orbost, halfway to the border.
VERY dry up there - could travel quickly depending on wind.
Small fires west of Mildura, East of Jamieson (under control) North of Angler’s Rest (Omeo) and near Tallarook (under control).
Smoke over Hobart apparently due to the Gell River fire (8,800 ha)
Victorian Alerts @ 1pm
Jamieson one under control - been going for a day or so now. Tallarook one safe.
New fire at Rosedale (Gippsland). 2 CFA strike teams attending.
My view shows about 60 fire incidents around the state. Most are safe. Vicemergency map shows ones that just aren't relevant - eg: safe etc. eg: Mildura area - 3 that were declared safe by 12:15 and one controlled by 11:20 am.
Many (of my 60) are unextinguished campfires that DELWP has attended, false alarms etc.
They are doing ok in Vicco at this time....the wind change and wind warnings will not help in East Gippsland.....contained may escape again.
Rosedale seems to be of significance.....atm.
Can see this fire clearly from my back deck! It’s def putting out a good plume of smoke. Very dry area out that way and usually quiet windy under a nor wester
Looks like the Cranny (Cranbourne) lads have managed to get a grass fire going.
New fires popping up south east of the Rosedale fire! Could be spotting ahead?
Grass fire near Numurkah.
Not likely - wind not that strong (I think). Can be false alarms (people phoning 000 because they see smoke). Or it could be a fire bug generating a serious situation. I'm watching it closely.
Update: CFA removed the 2nd report - only 1 fire there. Assume false alarms.
Your right teckel, they have now been removed from cfa app
@teckel incidents show up almost as soon as they are dispatched under your systems right?
Wish ours were more timely than they are (though generally good on dangerous days)
More fires seem to be popping up around that Rosedale fire area
Change must have past through Hamilton...
Yep, but it's a pia sifting through what's relevant and what's not. eg: 20 unextinguished camp fires, the false alarms, the car accidents and all the other crap. There's 2 things I want to see - incidents that are 'going' and incidents in my district. Yep, I can see them separately by sorting them, but then it changes back to the default view every minute. So it's good, but not so good.
I won't even start on ours. Much inconsistency and too much involvement from different humans needed. Hopefully one of the things that will eventually improve with projects underway including some of the recommendations out of the Tathra enquiry. Until then, best info for me is still consulting multiple sources - scanner being the best sadly
Only 1. DELWP and CFA report it as separate incidents if both authorities are fighting it.
Mind you, ours still takes a little while for updates. But at least we get them before they're sent out to the general public - they do filter what they send to them. A little. Sending too much info too soon to the public can cause unnecessary concern.
Fire out at londonderry blowing ash up into Blaxland apparently..new incident on the escarpment at Mt Riverview, may be a spot?
Often a 'spot fire' refers to a camp fire (at least in Vic if reported by DELWP).
Hitting Geelong now. Down from 42.7 at 2pm to 32.8 now. Avalon sitting at 44
Looks like a false call, smoke and ash from the Londonderry fire
Srathbogie and Tallangatta not looking great.
Edit: Tallangatta under control.
SW change hasn't been anywhere near as strong as predicted.
