Liensberger said she was quite happy to go to Lenzerheide having skied there a few times growing up. Looking it up, it is a bit over an hour drive from her home town of Göfis in Vorarlberg south via Liechtenstein to Lenzerheide, so that is no surprise.

Not a promising start in Lenzerheide. Snowfall and strong winds in the last couple of days have forced cancellation of downhill training. Downhills must have at least one training run prior to a race. They will now attempt to do this Wednesday morning and rescheduled race starts to the early afternoon - men's followed by the women's.

Hannes Reichelt announces retirement. He had been hoping to ski in the World championships this season, but at age of 40 after 20 years of the circuit and coming back from a bad knee injury, did struggle this season. He did have 13 race wins including Kitzbühel in 2014 which was the one featured in the Strief film.

This week not off to a great start. The Super-G's scheduled for this morning have been delayed due to very thick fog. They will now try and schedule for the afternoon.

The fog persisted so both the Super-G's were also cancelled. So Lenzerheide is now 0 from 4.

This means that Vincent Kriechmayr takes the Super-G title. Lara Gut-Behrami had already claimed the womens.

What this also means though with just the technical events to come is that the overall titles tip in favor of Pinturault & Vlhova.

Before those though is the team event - mixed parallel slalom.

But Hannes Reichelt marks his retirement with a slow GS run in lederhosen and a champagne shower.

Weather actually fine today for the team event, so we finally have a race.
News today that Wendy Holdener has tested positive so obviously wont be competing.

First round Sweden 2 Switzerland 2, but Sweden win on fastest time.
It is a very short course - just over 20 secs. Fairly flat start as well.

Blue course looks quicker up top, but red maybe quicker in the lower part, but a few skiing out.
Norway 2 USA 2. Norway through on fastest time.

With short course, some very close times, start critical.
Austria 2, Slovenia 2. Austria through with best time.

Semi finals.
Norway 2 Sweden 2. Norway on time.
Blue course definitely quicker, won every time.

Germany 2 Austria 2, Germany through on time.
It is quite a lottery, basically comes down to the fastest man on the blue course.

3rd place final
This really is a bit silly - blue course wins every time.
Austria 2 Sweden 2, Austria win on time so finish 3rd.

Final
And once again blue course wind every time.
Norway 2 Germany 2, Norway on time rule.

Final result
1. Norway
2. Germany
3. Austria

A fun event but not too serious. With this type of event one course is usually going to be slightly quicker, so it does end up being a bit of a lottery. Timing also a factor with the final individual slalom & GS in the next 2 days and titles still on the line the top skiers give this event a miss.

Advantage Pinturault now in GS. He is leading by a clear second and Odermatt 1.6s behind.

Kathy?
perhaps ‘Käthe’?

The Austrian commentators mostly use the full Katharina, but when they shorten it go with Kathi (pronounced Kati), never Käthe - I suspect that may be an older German usage - not one I've heard.

Back to the GS. I notice that the winners from the junior world championships are also invited including Lukas Feuerstein (I presume he gets a Fred nickname?)

Seems to be a difficult spot about 5 or so gates from the end - 3 so far all have had problems.

Odermatt only 3rd and still 9 to go, so big advantage now to Pinterault.

Vlhova doesn't take lead... but good enough to clinch overall title.

Final day of alpine world cup season. Women's GS and men's slalom.
Just about the individual races today as all the titles have already been decided.

Alice Robinson made her feelings known - OMG that was tough.

I think a few others just feeling the pinch at the end of a hard season, Petra, Lara, plus a few others opted not to start at all.

Petra and Lara have had great seasons and are enjoying the rewards
who needs the aggravation of a risky final event?
meanwhile Mikaela is leading in GS, which could be number 70
where does one put all those globes?

Lara left without giving interviews. Only info was from her trainer. She is not injured, but just said she didn't set up correctly for that gate and stopped. Nothing on the line, so she just pulled out. Can't say I've ever seen anything like that before. She was obviously unhappy before that the speed events were both cancelled which killed her overall title chances.

Petra just looked tired yesterday, had been making a few more mistakes in the last few races and not much incentive today having won the title yesterday.
