Have hotels booked for ski trip in 2019. I am thinking of flying singapore airlines. The flight i am liking at the moment is below. I like this as i can stay in the airport hotel for a 6 hour sleep before hitting tokyo. I hope this will mean i wont be so tired compared to travelling 14 hours over night with 2 kids. Can anyone comment on if singapore airlines will be having a special for that time of the year. Or if any other airline will be flying direct from perth to japan be January 2019.

Last two years we’ve used Singapore airlines. Both times over the typically exxy Christmas and early jan period. Haven’t paid more than $1100 return. Keep holding out.

Last year I picked up JAL flights, premium economy for $1800 return. Bought them in April.

JAL and ANA rumoured to fly direct for a while now but no set date.

We did a similar stop over times via Sydney with 3 kids in tow. Found the late arrival (10.30pm) and early morning to be a struggle for the kids (6,11,12). If ur hoping they are not tired on arrival in Tokyo I’d recommend a longer layover.

This is what I would do if you want to arrive Tokyo on the 11th and get home in the 26th.

    Cheap at $987 per person.

Is that $2873 for ONE person ??

I'm seeing airfares as low as $773 return with Malaysia Airlines around those dates. Even Singapore Air is showing fares under $1000.

    Except she’s travelling from Perth.

@Jasmellea near enough to 3k economy is the kind of ballpark for a short notice fare. You can definitely find cheaper.

Check Cathay via HK and Thai via Bangkok - they both have quick routes and usually decent prices can be found.

Malaysian have some flights on sale now from Perth (and other cities). Not sure if available over northern winter though.

I just did a quick search using the dates from the 1st post and also found these flights for under $1k. Keep looking!

We travel Cathay via HK for both holiday and business and you can often get a 2 hour transit in HK.

Prices normally circa $2100 each return.

If you arent in a hurry have a look at The Travel Expo when next in Perth.

Recently purchased some tix to Canada at their February show and got an amazing deal

I've also heard speculative rumours from another airline which used to serve that route...
Wouldnt put too much stock in it though as that airline doesnt have enough aeroplanes for it atm but ya never know

Given that airline seems to be expanding their offering out of Perth from just Singapore ... could be a thing. Hope so! As a Perth girl who likes to go places.

Yeah tied up with that minihub concept (London) but I think they would like to offer more onwards to legitimise the idea? Stronger suggestion is more westerly over lots of water.....

    Hai, so desu ne!
    Bring it I say!

    London is just the start.
    More Europe, more America’s.

    Both ways.
Good for a boost in inbound tourist numbers.

Why do you want to sit at singapore airport for half a day? Honestly the running around getting sorted at the airport hotel and getting kids asleep will be more work than a straight through flight. Are you going straight onto the mountains when you arrive? It will be a late arrival if you do.

Found this in about 3 minutes at wotif.com

Just to clear up some confusion. The price is for 1 adult and 2 kids. The adult fair was $1098 return. We will be going to Disney before the snow. Disney hotel booked to arrive on the 11th.

The idea of the long stop over which lands in Singapore 11pm is to allow me to have a sleep 6 hours in the airport hotel (which is apparently in the departure lounge with no need to collect bags or go through customs) before leaving again at 8 am. it would then get in at 3pm when we could check into disney hotel. Otherwise we would get into tokyo at 7 in the morning and be unable to check in early (I have asked).

I also have an issue with staying awake and it is not guaranteed I will be able to bring my medication into Japan although I and my specialist will be applying for exemption. The thought of entering a foreign country after poor quality sleep on the plane and then having to deal with language barrier, unfamiliar money, tired/cranky/excited kids and then not being able to check in until 3 at the hotel is not terribly appealing and avoiding this would make our holiday much easier. Im sure the kids will cope just fine especially if I can hold myself togeather. Kids will be 10yrs.

I hadnt seen the flight leaving at 6am. That may work ok.

Get on the 6am departure quick.

My preferred dates for our proposed trip shows only 2 seats left. I need between 4 and 6 depending on how many kids commit :(

I had to get a permit for Codiene based tablets, if you've got any questions feel free to flick me a PM. Also applied for a permit for some other stuff and was told I didn't need any. Allow a couple of weeks at least before you go.
