Give it a go on mobile, now 2x more readable if you are +40yo !!

Post title +2px
Post body fonts +4px
Quote fonts +1px
Left & right margins removed from posts list
Border removed from avatar block
Like & Reply link fonts +4px and extra padding for easier tap targets

I'm unable to get the font within inline editor (reply box) to go larger - any CSS experts welcome to suggest

CSS overides for mobile are;

Code:
@media screen and (max-width: 767px) {
.messageList {font-size: 17px;margin-left:-9px;margin-right:-9px}
.messageUserBlock {border:0!important}
.LikeLabel {margin-right: 40px}
.publicControls {font-size:15px;padding:15px 5px}
.quoteContainer {font-size:10pt!important}
.title a{font-size:13pt}
}

Looks good, especially bigger quote text.
Not sure body text needs to be that big. I'm certainly long sighted and struggle with tiny text but seems very big now, especially on my crappy phone with only a small screen.

I was looking for how to reduce the text and trying to zoom out...

Any way of setting it back?

No.

Larger, readable fonts are the new fonts.

I'll play around with sizing but it's not going back to where it was.

UX & the Human Mind

"If fonts are too small, older eyes (40+) will tire and the reader will become disinterested without knowing why, attributing the issue to the article being boring - they will abandon quickly and less likely to return - this is potentially 30+% of your audience

Can't they just increase the font size on their whole phone?

Or as my friends dad said, get an iPad to replace his phone as the font was too small on the phone?

nup, very few fiddle with their OS fonts and if they do a web designer should ignore that and assume default.

The weight of UX evidence is in. Mobile fonts are bigger for good reason - time on mobile has exploded. Eyes get tired.

Depending on the font family used 16~18px is standard for mobile on every site you visit now. I've dropped it to 16px from 17px as concession.

I'm not entering argument on this, I've just completed a 3 month project where a small team of us benchmarked this issue across all major national and international publishers.

You'll get used to it, and your eyes will thank me.

Do not like. Put it back.

(please)

Why do not you like?

Not that it's critical, but it's one of those visual clues I have always felt is much too weak. was unnoticeable (as revealed by the comments above) and one had to both know about it and force front of mind if curious about who was online in a thread.

ohhh kaaay....

Red gives me the hee bee gee bees. Just liked the green better. Red indicates caution, and whilst other peeps on here prolly should be cautious of me and my dumb posts, from a electronics background, a green LED means AOK, a red LED means error, or the designer is a cheap arse and can't afford the extra five cents for a green LED.

I preferred the subtle corner. you could see it if you cared. the red seems unnecessarily garish. red also has more of a connotation of off. Skype uses green for online.

Ahh and there I was thinking my smartphone had auto enlarged the print for my failing eyes.
Undecided if I like or not.
No biggy really (unless you count the font size)

Yup.
Count me in to the group who thought I'd accidentally altered a phone setting and was trying to work out how to put it back.

All G.
I'll get used to the new set up.

Concur with your whole comment,

You highlight the problem of previous green, one had to care, most don't explore what things mean if the thing is not ubiquitous 'network experience' and the previous green was too subtle to convey meaning to many.
The green corner is much better :thumbs:
