Excellent. Sounds like I'll be shovelling.

I always feel lighting a fire with metho or firefighters is cheating. But I'll carry some just to be safe.

Pouring fuel on a fire is a waste. Just get 4 squares of toilet paper, fold as flat and dense as you can til small enogh to just cover your fuel bottle mouth. Then soak with metho/shellite. Voila, you now have a fire lighter that will burn long enough to dry kindling sans explosions. Also my vote on hut would be whether you prefer skiing trails (go ggs) or the summit bowls (go bluff) up bluff spur is the quickest way up.

I found Bluff spur hut to be very accommodating and toasty, as long as you paid the pipers (indigenous broad toothed rats) or they will make your night a misery scurrying around all night trying to help themselves to your goodies no matter where you stash them.

I like the peace and quiet at The King Spur Hut. It might be a little further from the summit but it has a choice of Blue runs to ski if you have the ski skills to do it. I found the Blue Runs at Mt. Stirling to be tricky for this learner on skis but easy on snow shoes/ microspikes. I am going to camp at the Razorback hut later this month and XC ski green level runs such as Road No.3 , if there is enough snow.

Possibly you might find some snow to melt and turn into water.

There are water tanks beside the hut, although taps might be frozen. Otherwise melt snow.....but don't melt too much!

sometimes a little applied heat on the tap can set it free

careful of bluff hut with the fire on - keep the window open a crack at least - its very well sealed these days.......

At least you’re skiing together with sprogs.

My 10 y old would consider me for FOTY if I stopped taking him (lift) skiing!!

    At today’s prices that’s a win-win!

Thanks in advance for your snow report MT, although I'm thinking I might wait until the following weekend (test new tele boards & kicker skins for XC potential).

Look at the avy & cornice collapse risks with care & caution.

Edit, just noticed you’re holding off a week, things likely to be more stable then based on current outlook.

My cold has thwarted my usually ski activities. I am now going up to Mt. Stirling this Friday as a day trip. The better weather window may allow a summit visit with views too. I will take my BC XC skis and kicker skins and head up the Bluff Spur hut.
