Team Bears posted in other weather forum ....things are winding up in East Gippsland.Evacuation order in place now for Goongerah ...fire expected to impact maybe 7pm..Also some fires over border NSW look like they will threaten closure of Princess Highway shortly !Not sure if we have a fire section or not.Extreme care needs to be taken in travelling towards Cann River ,Eden etc etc.its getting very volatile to our east!

Nothing short and sharp about these fires - 6 weeks and counting, and that's before any real fire weather has hit. Tomorrow going to get interesting.

Yep. East Gippsland and alpine areas excepted. How's it in your part of East Gipps? Are you under threat?

Edit: And my quoted post above was in a different thread. Seems quite inappropriate in this thread.

Tomorrow we'll be in the firing line for ember attack. I've got pumps ready and primed, and been clearing around house. Will stay and fight, but if looks a bit much, bags are packed ready to roll.

Yeah, it is patchy in places, especially east of Cann River.

Interesting how little people know of fires burning in East Gippsland at present, based on number of tourists in area. A lot of frustated people unable to get through from Bairnsdale to Omeo and Bright and vice versa. Folks still heading into the bush to go camping. All locals are staying at home. Apparently DELWP are currently pulling out all heavy machinery from the forests, as deem tomorrow to be too dangerous.

Have driven from Canberra to Lakes Entrance this morning. Hazy and smoky all the way until Cann River.
Meant to spent the next 5 nights here but will leave at 0600hrs tomorrow and see what happens.
Mates living in Bruthen ready to turn the sprinklers on and head west..

Yeah, I'd be getting out of Bruthen too, and surrounding areas. Just moved all horses off our place to the west. Can't believe number of visitors still heading into the area. Spent the day cleaning up around house, prepping pumps and packing bags for worse case.

All the best over the coming 36hrs @Big_Red_60. Can't believe how dry it is down here. 2 plus years of no decent ECL for East Gippy now showing.

Looking at certain Facebook comments, it seems many in East Gippsland aren't evacuating. Not sure if that's all that wise...

Tomorrow looks dangerous indeed for Victoria.
    Melbourne forecast top of 43.
    35 - 50 km/h NW'ers.

Take care everyone, particularly those in Gippsland and the east.

Lakes was pretty quiet at around 1730hrs. Speaking to the cashie at Food works and there is a level about complacency amongst the locals. By all reports the fires moved 25km last night so it will be interesting how things are at first light tomorrow.

Mates at Bruthen have been door knocked in the last 30 mins and are leaving. View from Lakes looking north is a deep grey cloud. No pyro shooting thru the smoke deck. Winds light down near the coast.

At least Lakes Entrance has a beach to escape to. Although if fires arrive at night while many are asleep, that won't work well.

And so it begins, small fire on foreshore at Lakes Entrance. Despite the warnings, the carnival rides keep going.

Left Lakes at 0600hrs and have arrived at Sale to a brief shower of rain. Dropping anchor here. Plenty of CFA and Forest Management vehicles heading east to reenforce numbers.

That fire East of Cann River reached the coast overnight.

    Big day ahead.

Wind change will be the kicker for that fire, which puts Mallacoota in a little bit of danger.

Sitting at the Port of Sale and you wouldn't think what is due today. Currently 21c and a light breeze.

40 in Bairnsdale and Orbost with smoke being picked up on the feeble Bairnsdale radar.

The lovely benign conditions have vacated Sale, very warm with blustery winds.

    Surprise, surprise!
Victoria's arson capital - Mill Park - Campbellfield area has a fire. As they do several times every summer, especially on TFBs.

Thomastown just creeping over 40c with gusty winds.
They should just round up the usual suspects on these tfb days.
State is now definitely in the red zone for the rest of the day.
    Stay safe.

and if you zoom out you can see the smoke from the fires up and down the east coast being carried right down into the Souther Ocean well south of Tassie. Some of it's gonna end up over NZ if it hasn't already.

    Pretty grim stuff...

Can someone please nail this #£&% that has lit six fires around Plenty Gorge. No point rehabilitating.

People now being told to evacuate that area. I hope the #$#$@#'s house burns down. And a car accident. With a bit of luck, his car is involved.

    I'm on plenty river drive
I'm on Plenty River Drive and it's just on the other side of the river near my house. How does this keep lighting up multiple times today?? If this is deliberately lit the **** should be shot. Its blowing the right direction for my house but Bundoora has a full evacuation notice now. Absoloutly crazy. The map shows the fire in the suburbs, I really hope it's wrong.
