I think your time to worry will be after the change comes through. But they should have it out by then - CFA and MFB working on with heaps of resources, including air.

Black leaves OK. Burning leaves not. Best of luck.
Any burning leaves - spring into action and extinguish what you can.

Band of showers/storms crossing the bay and nthn suburbs as well, should help knock down that Plenty Gorge blaze.

nothing out East though and the notices have been upgraded for the fires around bega/bermagui. The far SE is now basically cut off.

BIL & family were advised by police to get out of Mallacoota (contrary to the emergency app info). the road out closed shortly after they left. police at genoa urged them to waste no time getting to eden. they are there safely now

Not to be too dramatic but Himawari paints a pretty horrific situation down there and extending right up the east coast.

    Mill Park fire -
Only one MFB vehicle on scene now - rest is CFA. Probably for the best, as the MFB don't know much about fighting bushfires.

A bush fire is burning in the Jingellic area, east of Albury. The fire is more than 2,000 hectares in size and is out of control.

    Current Situation

    • A fire is burning in the Jingellic area, to the east of Albury.
    • The fire is moving fast due to strong winds.
    • The fire is increasing in the area of River Road, on the northern side of Murray River.
    • Crews are conducting property protection along River Road.
    Advice

    • If you are in the area of River Road and Jingellic, it is too late to leave. Seek shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
    • If you are on the southern side of the fire, visit the Vic Emergency website for updates.
If you are threatened by fire

    • Do not be in the path of the fire.
    • Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Wear protective clothing and footwear. Cover all exposed skin.
    • If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
    • If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000).
    • If you are in an area that has already been affected by fire, there may be small areas of active fire burning for some time. Be aware of the dangers of trees and branches falling.

police advised BIL that Eden to Jindy is open and they are heading that way.

hopefully not out of the frying pan... A safe path to Bendigo could be quite long

Have decided to leave, multiple fires springing up everywhere. Now an emergency warning on our place. Will see what happens tonight and in the morning. I suspect Bruthen will be gone, and Nowa Nowa. It is horrible.

Please anyone who has even a slight hint of doubt just pack up and leave. Those fires arnt defendable unless you have a newly constructed fire proof house or a bunker or some description.

The Plenty Gorge fire that ive been dealing with today is a speck of dust compared to what's going on in Gippsland and it was stressful enough!

I'm a Linesman and had to repair the network after the Kinglake fire. It was the most heartbreaking and gut wrenching thing I've ever had to do. Speaking to all the homeowners who lost everything or lost friends and family was brutal.

No one back then knew what was really possible fire wise and there was stuff all warning, we all know now and today/night is probably worse conditions then that day.

I am also living in Bairnsdale now and I see the exact same ego's and opinions I saw before Strathuwen/Kinglake burnt down. 'There is always fires', 'I'm prepared', 'The CFA has no idea what they're talking about'.

I'm not sure why everyone gets this heroic attitude towards fires, then you watch the news that night and the same people are being interviewed in tears standing in a pile of rubble saying 'the noise was like a freight train' and 'the heat was just undescribable', 'I jumped in my dam and the fire went straight over the top'.

Just put your ****ing ego aside and get the hell out of there. Everything can be replaced. You, your friends and family cant.

100 percent. Looking at fire column and branches and leaves falling, you can't stop that. House is insured, so left.

Reports coming through that tragically another volunteer has died this afternoon and others injured in a truck rollover near Albury. Thoughts with all dealing with this nightmare.
