Yeah, we'll be hanging around. Nothing else to do. Ready to help any neighbours. CFA crews still patrolling the area.

Just spoke to a friend who evacuated from Wonboyn this morning, said it was dark with heavy smoke at 9 am this morning.
Now at Eden waiting it out but commented that smoke is getting worse and he is finding hard to breath outside.

Wish we could get a better update on that fire as to where it actually is to see if it has jumped the border yet and is marching up the coast or not.

Mate of mine is Merimbula. Smokey as hell there but at this stage relatively safe.

If the weather stays the same then it’s inevitable that Eden will be in firing line. But take notice of official reports.Ring direct to Eden Pub ....or something to get unofficial but best on table update.still safer on coast than stuck up on heavily forested route leading perhaps into more unknown danger.Though ...Mallacoota is very dramatic.....nobody on wharf in water is going to perish.....they are in safest place possible at this time.

Earlier rumours confirmed 1 fire fighter died last night near Jingelic ,2 others hospitalized. Apparently fireball hit their truck and upended it in a freak incident. Deceased fire fighter was 25 from Culcairn and leaves a young family. Much sadness for this tragedy.

Time to bail out is near for us ,right on the edge of the warning area. Tooma crew back on the job in front of us again on River Road. They are expecting a wind shift to the south. Tumbarumba has been spared with fire heading around it to the northeast but still heading generally southeast.

Fire to the north of us is about to jump Paddy's River and head into the KNP near Maragle on a direct line with Cabramurra. There is a lot of electricity infrastructure up in that area so this might suck in a lot of resources. If any of you know that area then you would understand how difficult its going to be to tame this beast.

And now near Dinner Plain too. Listening to CFA radio lightning is sparking a lot of fire in that area and they are scrambling to get on top of it as quick as possible as spreading quickly.

I wouldnt write this fire off considering 15 years of mainly drought affected fuel up in those hills. Once in there it could go off like a bomb ,remember we have perfect conditions right now for something seriously catastrophic in the hills.

Faark, this is all so sad

I'm meant to be going on holiday to Japan in a few weeks and it all just seems so trivial and meaningless right now. Think I'm going to have to stop watching / reading the news for a while as it's just too devastating and I'm having trouble functioning right now. Even my appetite has gone. Just feel sick about everything :(

Yes, this is all very traumatic following today's fire progression from my air conditioned office.
This is really shaping up to being very nasty and possibly more catastrophic than previous fire disasters.
It just keeps getting worse by the hour. Now in the KNP and lightning has started new fires all over the Vic alps.
