ActionGoat, just finished reading your MH article. Amazing stuff and great pics. Its got me even more pumped up about June. [IMG]

I also read through the rest of Mens Health, having never opened a copy before tonight. Geez they can ramble on about sex in that mag. It was like 15 pages worth of sex talk. Sex and skiing = win.

Accessing Vic's gnarliest looks easy... 6k stroll, up around 1400m overall.

Bulk of the NW spur track. Out of Harrietville.

So has the SW Sentinel chute been done yet?......SB, Climberman?

I was also wondering if anyone has winter shots of the Northern side of Jagungal?

SO.....Did anyone get gnarly this season?

Did you manage a line you've been wanting to do for ages?

I personally did SFA steep runs this season so next year needs a double effort from this little bag of fairy floss.

couple of other options on the south side that I’ve scoped out from a distance but have never skied. Judging by what I’ve seen they require a fair amount of snow to be feasible. The first would involve negotiating some rocky outcrops on the south west facing slope before cutting back onto the southern face and skiing to James Macarthur Creek.

This face is the one in sunlight below the peak in the picture presented above. ^^

The second follows a narrow chute down to the creek most of the way from the summit. These lines are shown in the pictures below. vv

The Bush Patrol, Brian Wilson and i skied the top half of this one on Friday. Brian Wilson took a line just left of the red arrow. Bush Patrol and i just left of green arrow. Wilson had to negotiate very steep cragy section 200m from the top but got through. Bush Patrol got stuck in a cliff band and had to retreat. I used feedback from both to find the skiable path through the trouble and got into the top of the stright chute. It's pretty rugged down there so we had to boot pack straight back up. Bailed over the ridge left in photo above and skied down there for an easier exit up Siren Song.

The top section of this run is definitely the steepest pitch i have skied. Made Carruthers north look very flat the following day.

Is it cheating if we side slipped?

Not quite side slipping but took it nice and slowly with the odd pause - mostly to try and avoid the trouble.

    Awesome effort, well done.
Side slipping definitely is NOT cheating but sensible (see this link http://www.wildsnow.com/5477/cascades-pickets-thread-ice-ski/ )

Boodwah, yes 2ways, some impressive sluff management at the top of all shutes & some impressive chunks of debris that had fallen off cliffs above rolling down with sluff. I got caught in a cliff band at the bottom of the second pitch which seemed nearly steeper than the top & I could tell there was a good drop as I could hear the goolies whumping as the sluff sailed over the edge. SB went lowest and could see the side of what looked to be a good 5m band so I was glad to stop a turn or 2 short leaving me a horrid boot pack out with digging my hands into snow, sinking up to above knee & my helmet brim hitting the wall of snow in front of my face with each step. Then crampon over to the next gully to join B Wilson & SB for some relief up the last 40m of their boot pack track followed by total melt down at the top.
Some delay on the trip report though as I left the cabe for my vid camera at home meant that had to express post memory stick to SB yesterday & should arrive to SB's door tomorrow then there is B Wilson's footage to add as well as we each have camera & may require some extra hours from SB to put the masterpiece together. Stay tuned.

Nice shot Brian Wilson (in high school the peson who did all the prank calls, or left a funny message with your mate's mum, or was pulled over by the blockers, was Brian Baxter - weirdly, I think of Brian Baxter every time I see your handle).

As Flava Flave said.... "I'm hyped plus I'm amped, most of my heros don't appear on no stamp !" (althought I think they had a deeper political push in mind).

Good work. Those ultra-steep bootpacks are good for sphincter-tone. Always wondering whether the whole slope is going to go on you whilst wishing that you'd packed the axe. In Oz we have the disadvantage of usually having to drop in without having scoped it whilst climbing up first. Our upside down mountains.

There is a mutlipitch climbing route here called Tourette's, cos when you look at it you instantly start whimpering f@%k.
BW's pic has the same effect, instant Tourette's Syndrome!
