I'm getting smashed with Gogglesoc ads via Google on our cams and reports pages at the moment.

Is this the best, most useless snowsport accessories of 2018 that you just so want, then get, then discover you don't really need.. or what?

Reminds me of the SkiGee, which is possibly the 'Pet Rock' gold medal winning all-time most successful useless snowsport accessory ever. Can the Gogglesoc best it?

I reckon it would make skiing really hard. How would you ski if you can't see?

OMG they had those in Jardines at SP last year. Bloke tried to sell me one with a pair of Smith IO/X goggles. Yeah nah.

Best accessory with a naff name for mine is the Ski Walker. Beats using force...

Not sure that the skigees are totally useless. I find them quite handy in blizzard conditions. Glove thumb by itself doesn't seem to work as well.

Saw an instructor with them on the other day. Goggle on head, sunglasses on face. I guess to protect them? I know I've scratched mirror lenses when they're been on my helmet (closed car boot on them etc).

I like them. Saved my goggles in gondola lift lines a few times in France this year.

Nah this is this year's winner: https://www.pudz.com.au/

They popped in to the shop to try to get us to stock them, fortunately I wasn't around. The boys politely told them that we sell boots that fit.

    Lid leash
    Cat trackz
    Those neoprene sunnies straps

All these things do a job. It’s just that the world still spins without them.

Skigee indeed does a real job. But gloves with wipers on the left thumb don’t get lost or forgotten.

I’ve had a skigee attached to me for at least 15 years
I think I may have used it once
gogglesoc reminds me of the bags that come with goggles - if you keep goggles in them, they get scratched from the constant abrasion inside the bag

Every second person in Whistler had goggle covers this year and like mentioned I think it’s the gondola lines and walking around busy streets with people that can’t handle their skiis that’s the reason.

I was looking for something the same as Googlesoc last year, only thing available was military spec ones in camo or black. Now with everyone wearing helmets and then you go have lunch and have to stuff your helmet somewhere and with my family you have 5 helmets with goggles attached so you dont loose them and you have to stuff them somewhere goggles are bound to get scratched. When you have just bought some Anon Migs or any large framless goggle you worry about scratches.
I definitely can see a purpose for the gogglesoc.

They do a job to be sure.

But so does putting goggles in the large pocket that most every ski jacket has since 2000.

It must be a helmet thing. I’m old school and have not migrated to a helmet yet.

I got a gogglesoc or similar at the start of the year when buying new goggles. Then scratched the new lens in the trees!

My goggles stay on my helmet most of the time as it keeps the, relatively safe, other than the exposed lens. Putting the sock on is pretty easy and adds a little protection for the car drive, or when hanging helmet in bag or when put down at lunch etc. value for not little money really

When its cold/wet especially it's far easier to pop your goggles onto your helmet than open your jacket, unclip the goggles from the helmet to put them into the goggle pocket in your jacket. When it's none of those, it's just easier to pop goggles onto helmet and put the sock thing on. Personal preference, butI find them really useful for $20

haven't read everything. Whistler based operation. Available online. If you have kids you need these. They don't put put goggles in pockets, etc but, depending on age, they will whip out the doc and place it on goggles at end of day. We all bought a set with good discounts. Reckon they are worth it if it saves a few scratches on $200+ goggles

Whistler is a good place for gogglesoc. Lots of people in close quarters with skis off. They were giving them out as volly gifts at the Whistler Cup race the last couple of seasons. The course guys love them because they keep the goggles clean and scratch free while they're handling nets and so on. Wet snow falling? No problem, pull the sock thingy off when you need to ski and you have visibility. They also help a bit with preventing the dreaded goggle fogging whilst working because the lower vents are blocked and don't pass as much of your hot breath up into the lens. That's a pretty specific application though, I sure wouldn't bother using my own money to get one.

Apparently Gogglesoc was a sponsor of International Ladies Day at Whistler in 2017. They were given to CSIA instructor at some big clinic. Have a rep in Colorado. Seems to be gaining traction. Have heard from a few people who have it and are hooked on the idea.

I can see it as useful when your helmets it in your head, eg lunch

But on your head you really aren’t getting whacked in the head with skis etc in the village or lift lines enough to wear these

Maybe not in Aus. Different story in the gondola lifts overseas. Everyone with skis off carrying them upright and not concentrating. My googlesock saved me a few scratches this year!

    Agree. Especially when wrangling children.

The riskiest time for my goggle lenses for me is when the helmet is on the table as I get out of ski boots at the end of the day. Tired enough that putting goggles into a safe place like a bag is not the first thing that happens. Reason I care more at the moment is that my favorite lens for my I/OS goggles was discontinued. I have one spare but want to keep that color lens in good shape for as long as possible. The Chromapop replacement is good but not quite as good in certain low light conditions.

Found an article about the co-founders. Rented an RV and took a road trip from Whistler to Colorado in 2017 to show it to ski shop owner/managers in person to get things started. For 2018, all the resort designs are for Australia or New Zealand. Assume that will change before the 2018-19 season in North America.

The advent of the gogglesoc seems to have coincided with the arrival of the less- than-practical frameless spherical lens goggle. A solution to a fashion created problem! How about comfy gel insoles for uncomfortable high heeled women's shoes? My goggle lens does not sit proud of the frame--- seems to work a treat. I do have a skigee and it works fine as long as I don't forget to take it!

Reason my regular instructor uses them at our little home hill is because he's had work done on the bases of his ski boots. Even though the amount of walking he does off snow is minimal, he puts them on every time he goes in for a break.

I have a pair. Goes with me when I'm headed to a destination resort with a large base village. Had to retire my first pair of boots bought after 2000 simply because they didn't have replaceable toe pieces and they were getting worn down pretty fast in the days I was chasing after kids on a regular basis.

I tried them for a few days when I was working in Vail and had to walk through a big gravel car park every day.

Decided getting new boots was better than the **** around.

    Definitely a "helmet thing."

I was confused by the fact that currently the only resort designs are for Australia and New Zealand. But clearly that makes them stand out for the 2018 season. For 2017-18 during the N. American season the resort designs included Aspen, Vail, Mammoth, Jackson Hole, Lake Tahoe, Banff, Killington, and I assume W-B. All designs with some feature unique to the resort so that they make good souvenirs.

Learned the most from this interview with the three co-founders on Vail TV in Dec 2017. In particular that the material is made from recycled plastic. Also . . . note the accent of the three men.

The basic demo video includes a kid at the end.

I saw one in a woman’s head yesterday and for a fleeting second thought that the plastic sticker side to a sanitary pad had somehow got stuck to her helmet.

People really write off Cat Tracks? I realise they are a PITA to fit and carry around but my 6 season-old boots are absolutely pristine. It is much easier walking on all surfaces. I use and recommend. Now, if you want to talk useless, I offer you Go Pro extension poles. Just mount the freakin' thing to your stock.

Frameless maybe, but I would not say spherical is a fashion created problem. I hated the tunnel vision goggles gave me before spherical goggles came along.

We've used cat tracks on our boots for at least 5 years. Had to get a new pair this year as mine had snapped off season. Also got some for the kid for the roces adjustable boots, boy scuffs his heels a lot when walking. I also love the skigee in snowy co ditions, but my gloves are squeegee less.
