I haven’t seen a heap of that - usually one or two hold the table while friends are in the queue (which can be massive).
Unlike Hanazono 308 - holy moly, that’s a place where all the Chinese Nannies are quite literally holding tables for 8-12 ALL FREAKING DAY!

Reserve prices start at $1,000 for high number chairs.
    Chairs 1-10 have a $2,000 reserve.

Safe to say I’m bidding for at least one chair

High school economics; strong demand and a limited supply of a commodity forces prices up.

There's a limited supply of chairs and, if recent auctions of chairs at Buller, Thredbo and Falls Creek are an indication, there is a very strong demand for novelty garden swings.

And it's a fixed grip chair so you can have confidence your new/old garden swing is not going to fall off next time there's a freak gust of wind.

I saw in the email that they're selling akya chairs - are these the special one-seater chairs the ski patrol use to download injured people on banana sleds?

Wow $1000 reserve , I thought reserve would be only be about $100.
Do they come with their red/ green garden hose safety belt.
Only 2 or 3 years ago many were missing one of the chain hose configurations.
My poor husband was very very upset when he found his missing once and insisted I gi ve him mine.

I think it would be really nice if they had an old chair down the bottom of the new gondola bottom station

Unless you win one of the akia chairs. Then you'd have to turn it into a sort of hammock-type-arrangement :)

Too much going on to buy one right now, but if it all goes to plan I’ll have huge regret for not buying one...

They said in the gondola DA that they'd install five chairs along walks in thredbo. I think the meadows walk was mentioned. However, more than five chairs were reserved, so who knows where the extra reserved chairs will go.
Possibly one up at merritts, possibly one at VT or FF. Maybe in the village square. Maybe even one near the museum. All potential locations.

Maybe put them at the top of cruiser so snowboarders can sit there to do up their bindings instead of in the middle LOL

I had a animated discussion with a "advanced" Thredbo skier the other day.
He was a bit taken aback when I called the New Gondola a sightseeing lift.

Not sure how it can be see as anything else...

Okay, I’ve used Merritt’s chair a fair bit - the bottom section at least. Quick way to get over to Gunbarrel from the village, or back to the village from High Noon/Dream Run. And with snowmaking maybe people will use the Gondola to do a few Dream Runs/Pegasus laps. But the majority of users will be accessing Cruiser Chair or “sightseeing” up in the Cruiser area.

One of the main reasons for the gondola and not a quad is for summer operation... Its totally not a sightseeing lift though, its only for skiers.

    Really?
    Where did you hear that?

How can they replace the only lift on the mountain that always provides foot traffic access with an easier to use Gondola and then bam foot traffic when everyone is getting on via feet?

    Sounds far fetched to me.

Will be 80% sight seeing IMO
As a skiing lift. It makes no sense at all .

This gondola really is a good idea though. Sightseeing is popular, especially in the summer.

The easy thing about sightseeing when you're in a gondola is that it's not weather dependent. People won't go up a chair in rain, but a closed gondola is different. Pretty much lightning is the only thing that'll stop the operation of this lift.

They will come in their droves . To ride a shiny gondola, not need chains...and pay 50 bucks for the experience

Merritts chair gets a lot of foot traffic already.
