Are those hotspots for harrietville fire alone
Yep. Note that that Sentinel shows only 2. Go figure.
Rain forecast for Hotham tomorrow.
drove down the hume this arvo coming back from buffalo, lots of chopper and other action around Boho, looked like lots of different fires. Dry as the proverbial proverb
Back. All good, some favourable weather thursday and friday has really helped contain these fires.
Good to hear How far off is it from being fully contained? I mean they must feel confident that some sides of it are contained.
There have been fixed wings wortherein harrietville fire again yesterday & today out of mt beauty. They are not sitting back waiting for promised rain
Bears and i returned safely.
DSE appears to be throwing everything at this fire by observation.(NW Spur Fire Complex)
They really are preparing and keeping options open to protect spread of this fire.Stoneytops approach is ganna look like freeway after they have finished.
Been to Mulhauser Camp and did little track clearing and campsite clearing of fallen debri.Camp Mulhe needs a bit TLC.
Much debri on track to be fine tuned: so watch tyres. But got last little hill clear of sticks poles etc.
Lightning Strikes at Yaba near Tallangatta on way home saw Eskdale CFA respond while i was having beer at pub.
Boho fire broke out near Violet Town about 2am on Monday morning cos i heard it on radio and was thinking this aint good having to flee or fight fire in middle of night.
All very messy all over the place. With lightning starting fires
Saturday night i spent at Pretty Valley Hut:rained a little o/n and bit more early morning Sunday. But a trip down to Mt Beauty on Sunday showed that rainfall was stuff all as leaves by side of road were "crunchy" and very dry.
It's a horrible smoke filled day in the valley floor today.
Whats the fire like over near Swifts Creek
U Steve, watch the spelling of lightning or you will be crucified by charlie.
Seen my mistake.Lightning.
Yep lightning a real problem all over NE with fuel so dry.
Hey i got look at Harrietville on Friday which was a fairly gentle day weather wise.Smokey plus plus but got up on clear area adjacent to township for look at ranges above.
Do like homemade icecream but was expensive.
As crews busy in this NW Spur fire bears are heading over to Mulhauser Camp for a little track upgrading!!!
Bears got VIC Rds rest stop about 5kms out of Mitta Mitta sorted with wipper snipper. Was 3feet high dry grass now its 1mm high stubble.Winds have been very gusterly on many nights so campfires even with cleared area fire pump lots water and rake are dangerous! But bears didmake this site as safe as possible.
Cannot understand why an area with signs showing camping area are not cleared of flammable material. It was so hazardous before bears put about 4hrs work.
I have revised my fire plan;
1. Total fire ban = check
2. Watch for updates from CFA web = check
3. Internet post spelling = check
4. pump/hoses = check
Nearly ran out diesel in my travels.Mitta Mitta G.S closes 4pm.
Eskdale GS sell no fuel any more.
Check full tank diesel CHECK CHECK
I had to call RACV Total Care and they advised me that you have to be unable to start engine for them to attend.
So no mobile phone coverage in Mitta Valley or poor mostly i told them i was 70kms from Wodonga and they were still reluctant to send out man.So bewarned if your up that way.Farmers at hotel were offering to sell me some diesel but RACV not the most obliging organization.
Then fires attened to by local CFA truck from Eskdale just to add more drama to running out of fuel or running low.
Anyway had nice counter mixed grill while having few pots for van to arrrive!!
Bears said they got work underway at Mulhauser and they miscalulated fuel load required on mission and left work site too late. But agree Eskdale Hotel brilliant place to be>>>>>>
Also chainsaw check with spare chain.
On our travels bears and i delt with one tree on Falls Ck Rd blocking one lane:which was fortunate for travellers and then over in Mitta Mitta a similar incident of a whole lane blocked.
They just fall and then fireplan is rather thrown into disarray.Wish bloody stihl would not flood so much!!!!!
crap, the Feathertop fire has taken off again, CFA saying Hotham and Dinner Plain likely to be hit. Check the CFA website if you're near by.
Lets hope rain comming soon to this area shortly!
Just picked this up on seven news melb..
Omeo must be worried too,,
