Was looking to get a pair of boots fitted at Gravity, but saw they now charge $300 on top of the boot cost for a 'black' fitting. Is this just load of BS? Think I'll just stick to Andy or Harros based on that...

I payed $220 at Thredbo Gravity last year and my daughter $180 at Harros the year before. Heat mould and footbeds.

Edit: Gravity's setup seems a bit newer/higher tech.

Nikki purchased boots from Gravity ladt year with a lot of tweaking done and there was no additional cost, apart from the custom footbeds

Perhaps the $300 includes heat moulding the shell and some footbeds?

Try Rhythm in Cooma. Purchased boots on sale May 2018 for $599. Been in three times for adjustments.
"Oh you purchased your boots here. No charge."

Same with Straightline in Canberra, if you buy the boots there, they'll adjust them no charge.

Have had 2 sets of boots fitted by Sam.
Only ever paid for the cost of the boot.
Admittedly retail. But why wouldn't he.
    He knows his shit.
I paid extra $ for heat mould foot beds.
Is good to deal with , very patient and in need can return for a tweak.
Not that I've needed to as he has nailed it first time , and I have some board bumps n things to grind n fit.

Sam at Gravity in Jindy did his time initially with Pete who retained Gravity at Thredbo.

    Recommend both!

Looks like Gravity have simply come up with a pricing system for boot fitting

Green - equals your boots, fitted and the liners moulded plus a matching inner sole and boot adjustments.

Blue $199, same as above but custom footbed

Black $299 as above but includes boot alignment (canting and cuff).

I’d say most of us have the customer footbeds which from memory cost $200. So 99% would be blue level.

Not sure how many people need the extra ankle angle adjustments. That said I’m a fan of Gravity Thredbo, sorted my feet out. Straightline are also pretty good.

Think in these instances folk should consider their own professional charge out / hourly rate.
And also value the benefits of a schmick fitting pair of boots . (yeah naah they not ugg boots ;))
As opposed to , when they don't fit so good … end of your day. :(

Ive only been into either with friends, Tele you just suck it up as there is no real choice. Sam (Jindy)and Pete(Thredbo) are both very good from what I saw, no pressure, no nonsense, Id say you get value for dollar. Haigs is probably no slouch too. Phil at Straightline is waiting for the gong (might take a death). Im sure there are other outstanding boot fitters about.

Hi guys, our pricing hasn't changed at Gravity at all. We still sell boots for RRP (unless the model is superceeded then it will be reduced) and include all fitting and future adjustments in the price. Pre-fabricated Sidas insoles are $59.95 and custom insoles are $199 as they have been for a number of years. We created a fitting menu this year for 2019 to make it easier for people to see what their options are. The +$299 option covers the cost of a $199 custom insole and $100 for a more detailed alignment adjustment which uses materials and a fair amount of time. This service has always been available but isn't always necessary. Hope this helps. Happy skiing.

Nicole and I just got back from our first ever boot fitting. We were fitted by Phil (his first winter in Australia) at Gravity Jindabyne. He spent over 2 hours with us. He was awesome.

I was easy, new boots with custom insoles. Nicole not so easy, she must have tried on eighty seven hundred different pairs of boots! She needed moulded shells and after market moulded inserts to stop the pins and needles she always suffers when wearing ski boots.

The whole experience was worth every cent. I had no idea boots could feel so good! Everyone who hasn't done so yet should get themselves fitted. Its just amazing, and I had no idea, how different a good fitting boot feels compared to a hire boot.

I can't recommend Gravity, and Phil, enough.

Again, I have to thank everyone here at ski.com.au, it was this very thread that made me head into the shop today.

Did @CarveMan's 3D scanner thread catch your eye? Might be worth Nikki's while to pop in when next in Melbourne.

    Sorry where is this Melbourne?

I’m hoping we are good for now.

A fitter by the name of Rob, who lives in Revelstoke fitted Nik in Gravity Thredbo and we popped in snd saw him in Revie for a tweaking
